sorry, only the beginning part was a response to your comment I didn't mean it to sound like I was saying you -repped me. I know you didn't -rep me and I hope you didn't get -repped by anyone in this thread

Oh about that eco hobby hunt, I tried it, WITHOUT armor with Opalo and I still get 50% return or less.

..... Case in point, CND. Guy invests $100,000 once and now he's making what... like $100,000 a year from it? That's like hitting a 19,000 pedder EVERY WEEK!! When you invest big into the development of the game you win - always. MA is more concerned about the people that pump in $100,000+ to further the game rather than the people that put in like $100 a month... People that gamble $100+ a month are a dime a dozen, there will ALWAYS be another gambler that will take your place. So don't think MA owes you a HUGE debt because you put in $100. Sorry but it's true.

That CND thing is a one timer only, I dont expect cooperation if I suggest a new continent what is 1 big LA with several TP's and new mobs for even $250,000


Its all about luck, be at the right place at the right time and you get a nice loot.
Im working my way up, to use Unlimited weapons but even with 4.1 HA it is a waste. When I hit Combat Sense I try again, but I dont expect anythig fancy.

well I dont want to be an uber who hunts dasps or areanatrox stalkers, and I definatly dont want to hunt snable with opalo.
I just hunt midrange mobs to ear skills so I can slowly advance to a level where I can use better equipment and hunt with less decay and not have to pay the frecking 160% for a korss.

Well, I was originally seduced by the idea of hitting the jackpot, but soon came to realise that it was unlikely to happen. So I voted hobby. I don't expect to win big - I'd like it but I don't expect it - but I would like to maintain a similar amount of enjoyment/pec that I had when I started playing

I've deposited a bit and hunted a lot, I've traded a lot and lost out from time to time. I try to play eco to make the few PEDs I have last as long as I can stretch them. But strangely enough, I'm finding now that just messing around in the ring is giving me far more fun and costing me the same as the same amount of time spent hunting. Generally speaking that is.
I can't afford the powerful grenade launchers that I saw a couple of people using earlier and which easily kill me in one shot - so I went in close and disembowelled them with a (borrowed) Determination instead

Now that was enjoyment that was worth every pec of the decay.

-Yes, I agree that your skills will make the difference, but it was just an example... my point is that depending on several things it IS possible to hunt things for cheaper than other players if you are smart in the gear you use and the skills you have.

-Well I never said an eco hunt would ensure you get 90% return. I meant an eco hunt will limit the total peds spend... e.g. a 50% loss on a 10 ped run is 5 ped... vs a 50% loss on a 1000 ped run which is 500 peds. Meaning that you can easily cover you loses from sweating since it doesn't take very long to sweat 5 peds... 500 peds on the other hand... well that can take a while lol.

-Yeah CND was a one time thing but you get my point... Being open to the opportunities such as that will yield a good ROI. Should you be in the right place at the right time to get involved

-Yup, luck is a HUGE factor in hitting a big one, however you can improve your luck and chances of getting something good by stretching your peds as far as they can go. E.g. of you can hunt twice as many hogglos than the average player with the same amount of money you've doubled your chances of getting a big loot.

-I don't place people in 3 categories... tell me, what is the definition of a noob? someone that is new to the game or someone that hunts the low lvl mobs? It's all a matter of opinion what makes a n00b a n00b and what makes an uber an uber. When I say go eco hunting that doesn't mean you HAVE to hunt snables and such. You can hunt whatever you want just as long as you are making the best use of your peds... basically eco hunting means... don't hunt things where you need to fap every 5 seconds, don't use gear that will overkill or underkill a mob and don't use a gun that you miss every second shot with. It's all about finding balance... Typically you may need 3 or 4 different configurations of weapons/armors/faps to get the most bang for your buck with what you are hunting. e.g, don't use shadow to hunt daiks, don't use an opallo to kill an atrax....etc Basically don't spend 10 ped to kill something that SHOULD only cost 2 peds to kill.

I think so. We pay for our entertainment at Disneyland, Alton towers, cinemas, bowling alleys, go-kart tracks, etc, etc, I don't see EU as being any different.

i'm not sure what to make of this thread. it sounds like common sense mixed in with personal opinion.

there's no reason at all if you want to treat this game like a hobby, you have to play it small. what if your hobby was huntin spiders and segs? anything below that is just not worth playing to you. what you described as "hobby play" i describe as "budget play" (where the budget is 0 at that). just calling it a hobby already implies that its going to be costly. not all hobby's are ofc, but come on, we're talking PE here so ofc it is gona cost ya something if you only play to have fun. remember, the goal of the hobbyist is not to make money. only to have fun.

big time gambler - well, again, some common sense really. i can't see anything in there that any of the "real" whiners didn't already know (not the ones who don't know what they're talking about). there isn't much someone who goes for big mobs can't do that he doesn't already do with normal small mobs. u just gotta be more careful not to piss the ped away (as there's more chance of that happenin ie lousy 1 shot finisher overkill - bigger gun = bigger loss).

big time invester - again, common sense, but with a dash of irony. everything is a risk really. yeah, there are more safer bets to play when you're buying hangars and LA's, but there is still quite a big element of gambling in there that can be even more costly than losing big at hunting, even when you were as careful as poss. for example: china. we know for sure that there are gona be introduced to new planets. i moved fast to get a hangar before (chineese) inflation began and got one. i was gona gamble on one for china. when it doubled in price even before china was implemented i quit while i was ahead. perhaps i quit too early. maybe i saved my skin, who knows? all i know is i don't feel like losin 110kped becuse i got greedy.
amp nerf. 105's 106's plummeted. i lost out because i sold my 105's too fast after the dip.

there's still plenty to go wrong in game whatever you do. personally, i'd say there is no point in the rich kid coming in to invest anymore. he's already rich! the mod fap isn't at its peak, but i'd say its well on its way. the higher the number gets, the more people drop out of the running to get one. the less chance its gona continue to rise in value the next sale. LA's are too expensive now. the later you wait to buy one, when you finally do, you have to wait longer before you break even and start to profit (through taxes) that you'd actually get more money faster if you were to just sell the LA at its inflating rate.


also, there's no reason to say you can't play any combination of the 3 player types you've listed. in all honesty, i was all 3 at one point. now, i'm just 2.

conclusion - you've not really given any special secret formula on the REAL way to win big. its what we already know. people just apply these methods and STILL get shitty results.

it doesnt really matter what the decay is when u just simply cannot get any LOOT!!! or does the better gear also increase ur loot gain?
