It will be interesting to see what they go with. The competition is on going so we will only ever see the winning result each time as all runners up will be entered into the next round.

I'm guessing although it will be fun to try most "photoshoppers" won't stand much of a chance unless they can come up with something of equal quality to the art thats been used so far. I recon MA are after the pros when you look at the prize money involved. A lot of good artists will charge quite a lot for a direct commission so I think a $1000 prize is worth their while.

The loading screen is essentially MindArk PE's corporate image for the next n months so its going to have to make them look good or it just won't make the grade

...and therefore MA:s visual identity should be polished (a little, just for balance) and sizes and locations of logos standardized.

Its $1000 if your image gets chosen. Also, Marco since this competition is open to players and outside sources don't you have a "kit" with some sample images available for use. Outside sources probably have no idea what the inside of the game looks like unless they play. I know I could use some high-res images for a killer loading screen.

is MA looking for another 'painted interpretation' of what PE could be? .. or are they looking for some cool 3d modeled spacecraft battle? .. or what about a montage 10x10 of screenshots from within PE depicting PE life.. (100 screenshots without dashboard/quickbar could sum up a game pretty well.)

Not really - the images become ours once they are selected.

Every time (a few times per year) the image will be changed for a new one. When a new image is chosen, the maker will receive the prize.

We are looking for anything that is of really good quality, feel and design. An ordinary screenshot will not do. A good image will take some effort to make.
