But other than competition with the auction, why double the fee? To keep the margin in there for the resellers to work with?
booths with no decay/no rent already exist in the game. to move them all next to a teleport, give use access to everyone and make them less then or equal to auction fee's would be insane.

Well that's why I mentioned that they'd have to be rented, or at least have a monthly "maintenance" fee like anything else.

right like a mini-auction you set it down and set the price and pay the fee.. if it doesn't sale in the set time it returns to your inventory or you go pick it up.

so, what I need to say too is that MA probably has too much Apartments and Shops also Booths in Game.
According to their named Number of Persons joining the EU Comunity wich should be over 500k Accounts (MA Statement) all this Shops or Apartments or oki maybe lotsa More of them should be used by Entropians.
Fact is, thats not true..... we have a lack of People using Apartements and Shops as Owners. So only thing to say is that there are several reasons why people did not want to buy Apartments or Shops or whatever.....

Too expensive, too low Numbers in ItemCounts, too far away from a TP, and probably the big and expensive Problem to get Decorations or nice made Furnitures for normal Prices.

It`s MAs Turn to regulate this Main Problems in my view.

I am sure EU would be much more interesting and funny to play if we would have definately much more different Items for Sale and not a masse and Tonns of Pixie and Goblin Armor dropping for example, or Noob Guns. If you visit a Mall you probably have lotsa diefferent shops stocked up with Noob Gear and making themselves Life much harder because of Price Wars ......

EU is overflooded with Armor and Weapons for Newcomers .... on 1 Point its oki, on another Point its simply boring to try to do shopping and then you enter a Shop and : Aaaaaaaahhhh !! Noob Gear again LOL

I think Shops should be definately specialized in different things they offer. But for this we definately have too low options and too low interesting Items we could try to offer. So its no wonder that Shops are overfilled with same Parts of Armor or weapons and such. For sure every Shopowner tries to make a good Pricing, but the amount of same Stocked up Shops makes it much too hard to stay. And I think MA should try 2 Options:

1. Lowering the Amounts of empty Apartments and Shops or rising up the Numbers of ItemCounts.

2. Create a much more interesting Droprate and much more interesting Items wich would make fun to sell and wich will open the Doors for new ideas

For Example: til now no Beer available in Bars ^^

IRL we probably dont have shops offering same things day for day.......

For Example: A Florist shop did not offer Foods....... a Shop where you can buy Cars did not offer Boats or Planes...... a Supermarket...... oki offers lotsa things for Daily needs but we would laugh about if it would be possible to do some Swimming or Aerobic or Fighting Sports inside :P
Thats what I mean. EU is called a Virtual Life with real money economy..... but sometimes I only feel kinda bored about to login every Day and have to see same Stuff in different Shops :P

If MA would be able to regulate this mainproblems I am sure much more people would find their way into EU.

It would be a great Thing to make a List of specialized Shops and their Locations, yes.
The Shoplist in Wiki is not up to Date.
It would be much more easier if people only try to check out whats their current needs in Things and where they can take a look for instead of running all Malls and Shops, probably filled with nearly same Gear because of the Masses those things drop. Thats a problem of time too. They need to run all the way to find their desired Item and as a fazit of this boring thing to walk everywhere for something they miss the time for hunting, mining or crafting.......

Hopefully this will change in future.

That's simply because you sell only very rarely through Wiki.
If for example EF, entropiashopping.com and entropedia would use one system where you enter your stuff once, it would help dramatically (talked to neomaven about this, but either I could not epxlain or he was not in the mood to discuss technical solutions ).

But in general I have to say:
The market system works fine (for me and my shops ), the decoration is expensive, yes. But on the other hand this shows a visitor of my shop, that I care abotu my business, that I really want to make ti a nice shop, because it is important to me.

And I have to say, the money you spend on lamps, furniture and plants is not that much. You get it back in a pretty short time, plus you can sell this stuff at markup prices while it makes your shop looking nicer.

its not mindarks responsibility to make people speacialize in there shops, its up to the player, yes more interesting loots would lead to more interesting shopping.

what i would like to see is a search feature kinda like the auction where u can search for items and it could give you address to shop its in then ya go get it, kinda like going through the phone book and making sure the shop has item you want before you go, would save time and get people moving around the map more, not just stopping to nearest auctioner, just my 2 cents

Actually, the chuckline Simpson might be right...it usually takes economists some time AFTER a recession to decide whether it was long enough to truly be a recession. Of course, most people slap on the ole "multiple quarters of stale or negative growth" bit, but that's more the market's ever-overassuming version of things....

EU either needs to cut the number of shops in game or kick the floor out from under its 'minimum price' for apartments and shops. Either try to increase ownership by increasing accessibility (a good idea, but they still need to cut the number of shops) or leave the price sticky while majorly trimming the number of shops to increase their perceived value and thus enhance the incentives to make them profitable.

While I take your point, Nihilist, I personally would be much happier if, for example, all the shopkeepers in PA Mall were running thriving, competitive businesses, because then people would have a good reason to come into the mall. At the moment, and this goes for all places where there are shops, if there were more reliable shops, more people would come and that would be good for business for everyone.

If you can run a business in a shop that isn't undercut and destroyed by auction, then it's hard to see it being undercut and destroyed by other shops, but maybe I'm wrong.
