Is EU's RCE collapsing?

Is Entropia universe's Real Cash Economy crashing?
I was looking for a new set of plates and i could not help noticing that over 50% of all shops in all shopping malls were closed/empty/fee not payed... The shops that were open hardly had any items in them...???
Markups at auction are insane last few days and even some of my ingame friends are chipping out after years of playing!
Am i the only one noticing this and if not, what could we (as players) possibly do about it?

That is a usual scenario that you have come across...shops are empty, and most have been for a while. There are however some good ones out there, that resell sometimes better pricing than auction, and they are the ones who will stay open, stocked and in business, because their markups are lower, they rely on volume to peddle their goods, hence they will succeed in the long run.

Seeing you mentioned it, would be interesting to know who is chipping out...so we can cash in on their demise...as the sky continues to fall

Seriously, I didn't noticed much of listed. The shops that I use are full of stuff. Markup on many things is even dropping. Life is beautiful. We're not going to die tommorow .

been around EU for a year now, i used to have my addresses as well, but check auktuma's, even buzz's shops now... almost empty...?

Perhaps auks and buzz shops were empty when you visited because the stuff they have was bought already, and they did not have time to restock...

the economy seems fine as of now, and also people are gearing up on WOF and LG type issues so a different type of activity may be taking place in the market

Rce does not equal shops.

most shopowners can't keep their heads up, simply because the auction is just way simpler to get stuff. The only reason to use a shop is if you want an item that is not available on auction or the shop has a price below auction.

So shops keep competing on and on with the auction, and only the ones that have special stuff to sell (like good crafters) have their shops in good order.
