Erm no, people buy from resellers because they have no choice. If you want any halfway decent item in this game and not be confined to low-level gear forever, you will have to buy from a reseller.

Take the resellers away, and who will be annoyed? Only the resellers, and maybe the people that bought items for more than they were worth because of resellers.

Don't fool yourself into thinking resellers provide a service, they don't. Nobody would miss them if they were gone.

I've found that most people aren't against resellers such as ore-buyers etc. (at least i'm not), but the market-manipulators that either jack up the price by buying their own items or buy up all items and sell them for much higher.

Sadly, will never happen. Depos are ment to have a short lifecycle.
Goes like this:
1. Depo #1
2. Spend as fast as possible
3. Gain as little as possible
4. Broke

1. Depo#2
and so on and so on...

MA don't seem to have any interest at all to keep players play for a longer
period when they depo. Sadly, they lose a lot of fun and good players due
to this...

Take the resellers away and anyone who wants a hard-to-find item will be quite annoyed.

Who says the resellers are over priced? What is overpriced? The price is what the economy will withstand. Lets look at this from another angle. What is a pile of pixels worth? Some will argue that you're buying an idea, the idea of a gun in a game.. I'm not going to take that route.

Lets break this down to the basics. We buy pixels. What is a pixel worth? Here come the real life examples...

In the sales thread there is a Mod Stark 117 for 100,000 Peds (US $10,000) Thats pretty expensive right?

What is a Mod Stark, well on my monitor I'd say it is roughly 270x50 pixels (very rough estimation) That means we are buying about 13,500 pixels for $10,000 or roughly $0.74 per pixel.

Based on real world sales, Michael Tew has determined that a pixel is worth $1

Based on these figures, that Mod Merc is below market value for its base pixel area.

What does all this mean? Nothing. In the end we are buying imaginary crap. The beauty of this game is that everyone can be whatever they want to be, and do whatever they want to do. Even Reselling.

More to the point, the resellers are greasing the wheels of the MA economy. Without the resellers, this game wouldnt still exist.

If they bought all of a certain item, good for them. They think they know how markets work. If they really did their research, they will make money. If they didnt and the demand isnt there then the price will crash fast.

The resellers are the only reason the prices move at all (up or down).

..yes it would? Supply and demand? Items cost more when more people want and less available. Resellers are just the middleman.

Exactly.

And you say we'd miss resellers because it would be harder to find rare items? Oh what a shame...I don't think i'd mind if I could get a mid-level item for a mid-level price, instead over artificially inflated prices that only benefit certain individuals.

Uber items should be expensive, but the only reason they are in the 10s of thousands of dollars is because resellers have made it that way.

Oh and one last thing, if you think a pixel is worth $1, i'll sell you my signature area for 50c a pixel, you can put whatever you want there.

You can even resell the space to $20 a pixel, seems like an easy way for you to make some money!

I'm only using that as a benchmark as the commonly accepted price for a pixel. Google Michael Tew, he sold 1 million pixels for $1 a piece.

Another post lost in the reseller hated debate.... I think that there are lots of threads like this already, maybe we should all try to stay on-topic for the sake of the thread starter?

Personally I do not suggest investing in either skills nor items. I am a crafter, have reached level 14 in crafting and i am at +600 peds since i have started. Yes, it can be done by carefully watching the market, and crafting things people want to use. Blindly throwing away peds into the crafting machine will only lose you tons of money. If you really want to invest in something in this game, invest LOTS of time in reading this forum. That is the best advice I can give anybody really, all the answers are here... some written, others obtained by using your brain on the hints given by other people.... these are my 2 pecs....
