It was a mistake to stop the low damage amps from dropping, it'll be a bigger mistake if MA dont re-introduce them to the loot pool soon, there isnt even a comparable limited item.

I dont think MA have any problem with market manipulation, it almost seems they encourage it with the low drop rates of good items ....

e-amps exist. not that they are very great, but they exist. and they are not a perfect match either.

perhaps they have a few new amps up their sleeves.

also i think the amp nerf helped a great deal in all this. the a101 was pretty useless to most people until it became the ONLY amp an opalo could use. the a102 got so expensive because it works very well with a range of lowend eco guns. guns that no one gave a shit about before the nerf.

i think that if the nerf wasn't so severe i wouldn't still bitch about it, but i have adjusted. but honestly i think that if mindark introduced all the (L) guns we have now before they messed with the amps they never would have had to nerf them at all.

These amps have uber eco. In fact they have too good eco compared to almost anything else in EU.

I think you should try to get used to the idea, that they will become increasingly rare as EU grows, and that the price will reflect that.

No one has to buy them at that price. The amp market corrected a lot last summer. The way it's being driven now by resellers to resellers could very well reach a point where people just aren't buying, and then the panic will cause a correction. This would be helped greatly by a few new decent (L) amps dropping, ofc. Especially if a few rare but nice unlimited versions showed up.

Another thing occurred to me about this, though. Short of actually changing the A-series to lower economy, the best way for MA to minimize their effect on the overall hunting economy is to...

Make them stop dropping.

Now, that seems obvious, but in addition to cutting off the supply, consider what resellers do when they smell a rising markup. If most of these amps end up stockpiled in some reseller's shopkeeper or auction rotation, with the last sale price for low-end ones well above what your average noob is going to pay, voila!

I love watching the completely false conspiracy theories people come up with. Things like "Oh resellers bought them all and drove the price up", "Everyone jumped on the bandwagon to make a buck", "There are no new players anymore so people don't need them".

Plain and simple, the price is high because people are willing to pay it because they want one. There is no conspiracy, it is simple economics. The demand outpaces the supply.

The reseller argument is completely invalid, again, becuase resellers could not resell if people were not willing to pay the price.

The other thing I would like to point out is that it is a VERY stupid idea to actually believe MA's in game charts and pricing info. MA has NO safeguards on these numbers whatsoever. They are so easily manipulated they are absolutely worthless. I can login with a second avatar and keep reselling the item with sick markup to myself and in about 20 minutes cram not only the day sale markup to anything I want but I can also change the week and month averages pretty easily too.

A friend and I tested this when they first came out. Anyone remember MA's in game data saying +3k for an opalo? It cost us a bit to do it but what the hell it's only money.

You overlook the possibility that it could be just resellers doing the buying. Just because amps are selling at a certain price doesn't mean that's the "proper" valuation. In this sense, they're no different from stocks. People were buying and selling dot com stocks at phenomenal prices -- until enough people realized simultaneously that their stock wasn't worth that much and the whole thing collapsed.
