Pretty amazing how a cartoon has sparked such serious discussion, but then again sometimes a simple drawing can cause a big reaction (you other danes know what i'm talking about) |

But... We do have a LOT of important things paid for us by the state, like education, big part of day care costs, roads, hospitals, old folks homes etc etc. So, though the tax pressure might be a bit too high, we really shouldn't whine, imo. ![]() |

In that case, all withdraws must be pure profit and should be taxed accordingly. ![]() Quote:
If you deposit 10k ped, and withdraw them again next month, you probably will have to pay tax of your withdrawing. No fair, but that's how gambling is taxed here. I suppose you could argue that EU isn't gambling, but the tax authorities aren't known to pay much attention to what's fair. Their concern is how to maximize taxing (within the law), and to prevent 'loop holes' in the tax system. |

Nah, you're wrong. We pay tax of gambling winnings here in Denmark. Trust me, I live here. ![]() Anyway... It's usually 'hidden' here, so that the game provider pays the tax for you, with your winnings BEFORE they pay you. But winnings are still taxed. ![]() |

. Its prohibited in the EU to tax lottery winnings, poker bookmaking or casino games in general. Do a search on google and youll see... i checked out a Danish page just to be sure i didnt talk out my ass, and that Denmark had diffrent laws, but you dont.So if you paid tax for your poker winnings, that you won playing within the EU of course, you should ask for those back ![]() (By EU i mean European Union, not Entropia Universe... you addcits.) I wanted to add this.
The winnings that are prohibited to tax by EU law, are those of game winnings in games where skill is a non-factor. And sadly enough EU lawmakers still bunch poker in there, making poker non-taxable but at the same time making it non-deductable so its not all great for poker players. For bingo players is sweet tho ![]() |

![]() If you win in the danish lottery, the government takes 15%. But like I wrote earlier, they take their cut BEFORE you get your money, and so it's not CALLED tax. (Not called income tax at least, but it's still a tax ofc) Whether or not winnings in foreign games are taxable depends on whether the game provider resides in EU, whether the game is taxable in the game providers home country, and whether a similar game is available in Denmark. Who said it should be easy? ![]() Link to danish tax ministry here Last edited by Vedder; 04-15-2008 at 09:31. |
