Yes, but the problem is that it's look like they (skatteverket) includes servicies and things sold between players too. But if all things sold between players is included i am not sure of, it's a bit hard to tell.

i would have thought as participants don't actually own the items and trades are made in Virtual Money, not SEC. Would exempt EU from this tax as we arn't actually trading are we?

Well not true... your are living in a EU contry so you are sucked in to it. To clarify one thing, even if the sellers don't need to add a VAT tax, the buyer can be forced to do it. It a head ache, not much to do than wait for a MA statement....:S

I'm sure a tax attorney for the government would like to say otherwise, but a real case can be made on these simple facts:
- We do not own anything in the game, and no ownership is exchanged
- The service is provided "free" (no cost to use the SERVICE itself)
- Only real world item purchases would fall cleanly under VAT rules

The argument is not cut and dry, but even if the service were to be considered a paid service, it would have to be based strictly on the deposits and not the exchange of PED in game.

So apart from real world item purchases, there is no charge for the software and no charge for any measurement of the service itself, so the bottom line is that we are much less prone to this charge than say... certain "Other" virtual worlds (in this sense, it could be considered a GOOD thing, as it helps distinguish us from the "competition" in a positive way).

But there are no "things sold between players", as MA owns it all....
And the service is from MA to the players, leaving MA with the V A T bill
when it comes to "service between players " what will come under that, only thing I can think of is a fapper, but that is more a part of the gaming experience IMO, so if that should be V A T taxable, who is to say what that service is worth ? Only the decay? If so, there is nothing to tax, as the fap belongs to MA, and the decay is paid to MA and its all a part of the service that MA provide and ( I think ) are paying V A T and other taxes to provide.

But it would be nice to see what MA have to say about this.
Probably they will say something, but I guess they wont say it soon, as this probably is something that theire legal department have to look into.
