It is quite simple. Pe Auction is outstanding system and does not get all the data.
Basicly the difference comes from buyouts. Since there is no safe way to track buyout event, PE auction gathers only data from auctions which ends in bidding. But those are only one part of auction - usuallly those auction that ends with bidding are those that goes cheaper. This explains why price in PE eauction is often lower than ingame market price for most of the stuff. This may not be true for recourses, due to order system, where big quantities are sold for small markup. |

I suggest you look at both, and the history over at least a month of sales to get a true idea of what is going on. |

Depending on what you do it's more realistic or not. If you're willing to sell something in auction you may rely on the in-game statistics as long as you don't run into some item which somebody tries to fraud with (i.e. raise prices beyond logic). If you are a serious buyer and have enough time to run around the streets you should rather use the external sources. In-game stats are always higher than the external ones because they include buyouts (as mentioned by others) and reflect what people in need are willing to pay. But don't forget that some people may need items badly and thus will pay more. So overall it's a good idea to know what's going on with the items you deal with. Keep looking on in-game and external data sources for a while and get a feel before you lay your hands on the items for real. Side note: Keep in mind that every VU may cause price changes!!! Those happen when MA's balancing team decides to change availability of items. |
