My bank recently started me an additional 3% on my transactions with MA.
It did not effect the peds purchased, so I did not notice till I reviewed my bank statement and saw the additional 3% on the deposits, initially my bank tried to blame visa.. further interrogation revealed it was the banks fee.
I guess they saw a trend in my spending and decided to get a piece of the pie

the bank is charging between 2.6-3% for forgien transactions.. so the bank DO take out a fee for transactions. they who says different are wrong

so its all depense on how the agreement is between MA and the bank.

and If MA is taking 0.5% for a transaction, is that really something to feel sad for? its 5 ped on 1000 ped.

BUT, if MA state that they dont take a fee on every transaction to cover cost and the truth is that they do.. then its bad

For bank-bank transfer there`a big problem. For every transfer there`s the usual transfer bank transfer fee standard charge of around 20Euros+% of the transaction value.

So what you`re saying is Visa charges you twice? Cos I`m being charged twice, once when I actually make the transfer(that`s Visa charge) and once I actually get the already charged sum into Entropia.

Exactly, % is around 2-3%. Have deposited a larger sum this way and I know for sure.

Using Visa, I only get charged the amount I deposit into EU (plus the 3.5% Visa charge MA side), ie US amount / currency exchange rate then I am charged a small fee for currency conversion which is ~ $ 12 per $ 500 aussie. A relatively small amount when you consider the time & fuel costs of travelling to a bank etc to go do the deposit manually.

I suppose you need to consider these things when looking at the bigger picture in time saved and other cost savings, ie Fuel, cigarettes if you smoke haha etc etc when you take time out to go do these things.

A few dollars per 100 is neither here nor there when all the other things add up to a similar amount when making small deposits.

10k USD deposits or more, definitely use the bank direct TT option.

Mine charges 6 Euro / transaction. Time to change bank?

You still wouldn't want to depo your 10$ that way, but for amounts of that size 3% isn't really the world either.

It has always been a sort of a business, afterall, real money is involved. About the game, yeah, you have to be still a player to see it's still there.

What some forget is, that it is Visa charging those 3%.
Just go into a shop and ask them how much they have to give from the selling price to Visa. Most simply have it calculated into their prices.
Why should MA give anyone using a Visa a 3% discount ?
Especially since there are ways to deposit at no fee at all ?

As for bank fees.
Overseas transactions cost 2,50 Euros, within Europe I think there are none anymore.
