I think MindArk is trying to cheat me

Okay, so, I logged on for the second time. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood because some little teenybopper kept harassing me to tell him my age, I don't know. But anyway, after running around the city for a bit, I made my way back to the camp thing... but once I got there, I didn't really feel like sweating either. So, hey, I figure, I'll make a small deposit and try something different.

So, I give MindArk my credit card info, and... *drumroll*.... they want to give me an exchange rate of 9.65!!! It's supposed to be 10, isn't it? So, why am I getting cheated?

I couldn't find anything on the website to indicate this might happen.

hmmm.... Dishonest of them not to mention it.

But, thank you for the info.

So, how can I avoid the transaction fee? (IE, what deposit methods are free?)

Hi Kiri,

All transactions are done from your currency to USD, then there is a 3.5% charge upon the USD amount for the Visa/CC charge

Some cards have higher rates, please keep that in mind. Visa is most widely used though so 3.5%

Hence for 1000 ped, you would not deposit 100 USD, you would deposit 104 which would give you just over 1000 ped.

Take Care and GL,
Sparkz

Yes, I have a Visa, and I live in the USA and do US dollars

Well, as long as it isn't just me they're picking on.... but I'd feel better if it were actually printed on the website. I have a bad, sleazy taste in my mouth now.

Guess I'll go to bed. Maybe I'll feel better in the morning.

Thanks for the fast, helpful responses, folks. Really friendly bunch you have around here.

hiya,, if your gona make a small depo then i suggest that you depo with the visa,, the % wont be that much but if you want to avoid the % you could depo using the bank transfer which would only take a set fee(which is not that much) but it works best if your making a big depo... best way to explain it is:

your going to depo only 100$=1000peds(example)

visa+%= 35ped charge= 3.5 USD

bank+set fee(depends on bank so lets around 12 USD)= 120 ped charge

so bank works good if your making a big depo,, you save more

Haven't quite gone to bed yet... is the bank fee set by the bank, or by MindArk? Because my bank has never charged me anything (on their end, anyway) for a bank transfer before.

Which option do I choose for a bank depo? You don't mean the "via bank office" option, do you? That sounds like the deposit won't arrive for weeks.

It is set by your bank. The fee charged for bank transfer is an "Over seas transaction" fee. It varies by institution. To be fair to MindArk, they aren't the ones charging the fees for cc transactions. They are passing on the transaction charges instituted by the card companies. If you deposit via direct bank tranfer then it is 1 USD = 10 PED exactly. The only problem is YOUR bank will charge you the over seas transaction fee. My bank wants to charge me $40 USD per overseas transaction.
