Question About Visa Gift Cards

Hello all!
I read the post about using Visa Gift cards to deposit, and, to protect myself from the hassles of a credit card, i bought one. I made the initial 10usd deposit, but I can't figure out how to activate the card with EU. Any suggestions?

i don't think you can activate

maybe send in a support case and ask if no one knows.

I don't know how the gift cards work but if you could check and see if you can looked for an online statement for the gift card?

I'm having the same problem. I have a Visa gift card so there's no credit card statement to find this mythical "activation code". I've looked at the online statement but it only lists the balance and where I've spent money... no activation codes in sight. Why not act like a normal business and ask for the security code on the back of the card??

Ok I figured something out on my own. It turns out that "Unactivated cards have a deposit limit of 500 PED per month". So I don't have to activate thing. That's good, but what is the minimum amount it requires? I've got $3.01 left on this stupid card and was hoping to just dump it into EU, but it won't let me. Does EU want my money or not?? Seriously, they aren't making it easy for me.

Another note for anyone else who might find themselves in my boat later... the minimum deposit amount is $10, at least for the first time. But more importantly, it turns out the my Visa gift card, which is actually my rebate from AT&T wireless (it's an orange debit card that says "promotion" on it) is not usable for EU. I had another one that still had $21 on it and I kept getting an error message that the transaction was being rejected by the provider. Stupid bastards. So it isn't EU's fault, it's the useless card.

When I first started about a year ago, I used gift cards to deposit. No need to activate them since they usually are used only once if you deposit the full amount. Deposit using the card then just delete it from the list of your credit cards. However, I think banking rules have changed a bit since then in the US and many of the gift cards can only be used for transactions in the US. Check the packaging to see if it can be used internationally. I now use a GreenDot prepaid MasterCard and activated it using their online statement. It can then be reloaded and used as much as you want. Good luck.
