back in the day when i started eu the front page used to say something along the lines of you can make a real living. this may have been the case along time ago but recently things just seem so sh~ty iv spent over $10k in this game and i am not close to breaking even whit any skill i do. why does this game just have to be a big money sucker why cant it be more balanced i mean to break even would be nice. but no! deposit after deposit it just gets sucked away and put in to the uber pockets. im sure a lot of people will say oh go quit then but i already have. and people will say only spend what you can afford but when you are addicted you cant help but chase your loses. and now i have quit even if i sell all my stuff im still short by about $5k which is about half my money over only 2 years. how can i recoup my lost peds?

Uhhh.... what?
"when you are addicted you cant help but chase your loses" No, when you are addicted you need to get help, not depo more... the house always wins (MA). You can't always get your money back if you just gamble it away. You can't blame the game for YOU getting addicted and YOU gambling all of your money away. If you want a sure way to profit, head to swamp camp and pull out the sweating fingers... otherwise, its all just another gamble. |

Personally, I think the loot (generally speaking) has been very good over the past month. In fact, the number of 'the loot sucks' threads seem to be at a minimum right now which leads me to believe that others might be experiencing the same thing.

Why such neg rep? Have you been rude on the forum? or are people neg repping you because you have an honest problem and frustration with how EU is marketed? I really hope that is not the case, because I have always had similar concerns... balancing them of course with the responsibility of the individual to stop what he believes is a bad behavior.
By the way... one of the new marketing phrases is something like "tired of killing monsters and not getting paid" by Mr. Bates claiming a belief that gamers should 'get something back' for all the hours they spend playing. MA is really a charity trying to finally compensate us for all of our toil and sweat over a hot keyboard. I enjoy EU, but still have concerns when it is marketed like this. Maybe the smart people realize that the money is on the other side of the equation... i.e. being a land owner...not a hunter. Maybe if we believe those marketing lines, we are just gullible, and deserve to lose our $. There is still a lot of room in EU for doing other things. Sweat, trade, and with a hefty investment craft and profit from selling stuff. And there are plenty of people that enjoy the 'chancy' part of the game.. and really don't care what they spend (lose) doing it. I too was very addicted early on....and took a break for 6 months..and then came back.. hopefully in a more responsible way. We can't blame MA for how irresponsible we are. Where I have concerns is whether with this kind of marketing, they are actually targeting the gambling addict with this non-game that is not gambling but has a similar feel. I feel that this reality is something that needs to be more clear up front. To not tell this to a disciple, hoping that he will get 'hooked' trying to get a hof so that we get a prize is dishonest imho. I think in the long run, it does more harm to the game by increasing negative opinions of it. I would rather have 100 people who say "that's cool..but not for me" and 1 that plays happily, than 1 playing happily and 100 playing who bitch and moan about how it is a skam and they are just playing to get thier money back. All that being said Steve... man if you stay in EU, I would really recommend that you find a successful player and see if they can help turn you into a success story....but it will probably entail little hunting, and a lot of investing or trading. Maybe when you get some of your losses back, you could go back to some moderate responsible hunting. Maybe you have also had really really bad hunting habits...which is my guess if you went through $10K in 2 years... I am around $5K in 4 years...and I should be around break even or more...and I am a very innefficient player. But I also think that in your case, it might be really really wise to just walk away. Go cold turky... keep your stuff...maybe invest a little more in things that might go up. I could potentially break even in EU only from inflation on some of my items. And I never bought them expecting that to happen. Maybe I was just luckyer than you in this way, and you never really bought the kind of stuff that jumped up in price. If you are really addicted, you need to work on that problem....seriously. Get some accountability from a friend if that will help. Do not addopt the victim mentality... MA is not responsible for your losses... You are. In the big scheme of things, $5K is nothing, to learn about your 'tendency'. For some people, they have to lose their homes and families before they wake up to their problem. |

I'm sorry you can't break even...
But I havn't deposited a cent I've managed to break even and make some profit. And I am no where near being an uber, or even high level. You just have bad lucky man =/. I'm sure it probably was easier a long time ago though. But not everyone can make money dude. It can only be the few, the lucky. This game would go bankrupt if a person could just come in and make a profit. |

The only way would be to trade.
Sell your stuff. Get those 5k$ and hit the markets or the auction(or both). Thats the only way to earn money without any gambling involved in your game. 5k$ its a good starting capital for trading. Soon you will have your 10k$ back in your hands. Withdraw them and you are done. Good luck Sil$ |
