The idiocy of banks

Dear Entropians,

Today I won an item at the mmabishow auction for 8250 ped. Not having that kind of ped on me I was thinking, hell I put an A105 or my unlimited masher 2 into one of the banks to get the missing ped on my card.

Respecting Neverdie, his bank was the first I visited to find out his bank was offering tt-174 ped for the unlimited masher (wtf?) and a mere tt+400 for an A105.

After that I went to Twins, then to Argus and finally to New Oxford to find that none of the banks give tt+ (not even 100 ped) for the masher 2 or more then +400 for an A105.

Now I do not expect to get +2k for an A105, but 400 is a slap in my face. IF the banks want to make ped, they need to revisit their pricing considerably as an A106 did not attract more then +1k neither.

I can safely say without knowing the details that the banks, next to the malls (who shine with lots of closed shops, overpriced gear etc.) have been one of the biggest cockups of MA (or respectively of the players having paid thousand for a license)

i think the problem is due to some automatic pricing. doubt the bankers set a price for each and every item by hand, maybe they do it for a few.

guess they set a % from the ingame market value (probably yearly price or even decade, so it's hard to manipulate) which looks like ~20% (based on week) in the case of amps.

since your masherII has not been sold via auction so far, EU does not know an "official" price, thus the banks say tt+0 as base and then deduct some kind of reserve.

yes..big mistake from theyr part....a big bussines is transformed in a simple mistake becouse they dont have a manager to check every day all items and stuff....and sorry but not even a bank is good organized.I checked my self!

No offense, but why bid on an item when you don't have the ped to back it up?

Perhaps checking out the banks first would have been a good idea.

The biggest problem that I see is that there are too many banks. One bank, with all the traffic, would perhaps find it worth the time to keep up with their rates. The feeling I get, when I pop in to look how they're doing and if they're selling anything for not-twice-the-markup-as-they-usually-are, is they're playing it safe by putting a low value so they can just care less for a year until they check it again.

Sorry, but I seem not be able to understand why the bank should pay more markup for an item, just because some resellers inflated the prices.
IF a bank wants to profit, they must take precautions to not fall for market manipulations.

Honestly, I have used the banks several times and was quite satisified.
They are pawnshops, in RL you do not get more then about 20% for you stuff either.

for the record we manually adjust prices on almost a daily basis... Sure we miss stuff and our criteria for adjusting prices changes often, market trends, availability of funds etc...

A simple PM to me if u have an issue and I usually forward it to the bank manager for review...
