Trading vs Reselling

I am wondering the difference between being a trader verses being a reseller. I don't do any trading / buying except for supplies that I need for crafting and only sell to gain peds for items or supplies that I use so that's why the question. As of late I am very confused of the proper distinction or definition between the two.

Traders usually buy small amounts of various stackables and sell them for a little bit more at the auction, while resellers buy heaps of things at the auction, manipulate the prices and sell the items they just brought for profit...

It can be profitable but in 5 years when im GOD because i play they will still be traders/resellers

basically reseller's main aim is to raise market value prices on stuff they have so they manipulate the system... others, like me, who are true wholesale traders buy at tt prices... which has the effect of causing market values to actually go down, at least til resellers come back in again...

You don't have to manipulate anything or push prices anywhere to be a reseller. There should be a whole other name for that kind of thing. I do think it's been done sometimes, but it would involve items where you really have few items such as... Epsilons or sometihng like that(otherwise someone just takes the oppurtunity to undercut you).

Most resellers just buy something cheap when there's no one else around to get it and wait till someone who desperately needs such an item comes along and sell it to them. They take advantage of the fact that people are willing to sell for less than average to get peds quickly or pay more than average to get something they really want.

I hadn't heard the term resellers till I came back this year. Before everyone was just called a trader.


Market manipulation doesn't happen nearly as often as people say it does, but I've seen it happen on really low liquidity items and possibly some ores in the past. (I know a person who bought out the kanerium all at once and managed to raise it by 70%. But I'm not sure that really helped him any, cause other people kept selling it just 60% more and he might have had a hard time liquidating it without pushing the price lower than it was).

Unfortunately, by the time you'll become GOD a reseller will have enough dirty peds for buy a shitload of skills and become UBERGOD. That's how things works and it's sad . What is much more sad he won't buy those skills but instead will use that money to screw the market up even more.

Well some people like to buy ores/enmats and say they are a trader providing a service.... If you are going 2-3% below market price, then yes, you are a trader providing a service. If you are going 5% or more below market, that is when you're just a reseller that we don't want around

It's difficult to make a clear distinction; the way I see it:
Trader (Wholesaler might be a lot more appropriate) - the guy/girl that sits at Sweat Camp and buys 126 bottles of sweat, repeat ad nauseam, and the sell then sell in 10K chunks to ME makers for example.

Reseller - the one that buys a weapon with the ONLY scope of selling later for big profit, for example.

Since reselling it's "legal", there is not much we can do about it. Unfortunately.
