And therein lies the crux of the problem, as stated I have many times before.

Mindark specifically targets resellers with their advertisements and no amount of whining about it will cause it to change :/

EXCEPT for one small change...

Houses generally have rates to pay, something to the city for maintenance of local amenities so make all those people holding all the houses pay rates, and I am not talking about 2 ped per month, I am talking 50ped per month.

At least.

Each.

We will start to see a hell of a lot of houses come onto the market but this would not be a bad thing, people want them because they simply mean free advert space, free storage and display..somewhere to work for hairdressers and many more things...

Right now the economies problem is that so much stuff is held by "dead" accounts simply waiting for prices to rise but all the they to do is log in about once for 3 seconds per year to update the timer.

I am sure they will get a shock and release their houses to everyone if they found out after a year the 100 houses they took off the market had cost them 60,000 ped lol (Taken from their account, or forfeited through the sale of their houses)

This would not affect the smaller guys on the street very much as they will then have a house, they will have thier stuff displayed and a place to work or whatever...$5 per month is a bargain for a house when you start to use your imagination about what you can do with it

@Mastermesh, thanks for your comments on resellers and how to define them...you are complately right of course.

The bad resellers are those that purposely drive up the markets, we simply are the counterpoint...making sure people get stuff cheaply while taking a small cut of course.

I was recently able to get some purple paint for 103% and now the price has shot back up to 150%, yet I wont sell for that price...probably 135% or so...this way i get a nice profit and the crafter I sell it to will as well, if anyone is interested my PM is open but dont expect it there for weeks lol

What I am saying is that people have to learn to distinguish, I trade because I cannot afford to deposit that much, it allows me to play on occasion. I am not one of those who wrecks the economy and screws everyone then runs with a bundle of cash extorted.

By stating that - the guy actually deprived himself some bulk sales.

I'd say it's more that at around year 2005, the drop of a lot of items came to a halt. In some cases it got replaced with (L) items, in other cases it created a vaccuum where there are no suitable (L) item (for instance, rifles with long range or higher level mindforce chips). (For higher level mindforce chips, I have a suspicion that it's hoarding rather than reselling that is keeping the price up.)

As for (L) items to replace "old style" items, there is a problem: When you need a reliable access to a weapon, for instance during an event like mayhem, the market tend to dry out (or prices go up). For (L) armors, the problem is that mobs nowdays drop a lot of different high TT (L) stuff, which can make it harder to get a complete set, and when the cost of using an armor reaches 1000% it's not fun to use for normal hunts. The pricing of (L) weapon amps, introduced at "amp nerf", is a special case.

So whats the difference between reselling and dealing till you get that price for the item you want? I mean seriously if you wanted some good armor, let's say Angel or something like that, you'd do everything in your power to get the person who's selling to drop the price till you feel as though you are winning the deal.

I am sure, even in real life you do not want to pay the suggested retail price for anything, you'd rather pay less.

Same thing.....

Even if you ask, Are you a reseller? all the reseller needs to say is no, so theres no point in asking the question in the first place. its obvious that if they ask it thay dont wat to sell to re sellers so either way its a pointless quesion, weather there a good reseller or a bad reseller.

on another note, resellers are usually bad for the economy on most cases

YOU NEED the reseller or you cant live here.

I have of course not read this Entire thread (im not that addicted) but I have read many pages and the one thing I don't see anyone addressing about the people who drove the market up is this....

If everything in the game sold for a Markup of 125%... We would ALL go broke...(except the two out of 100 who hoffed)...

It is a fairly well researched "fact" that the average TT return on investment in EU seeems to be somewehere between 60-75 of tt investment.

That mean that if there were not drops with High mark up it would be Impossible to sell your Drops and make a profit.

If people dont keep the price of Rare Items up then we will all be depositing every week just to play.

Oh, for those of you who cant stand resellers... go to your local supermarket and start picketing them....then go to the Cable company... and the internet company... and the car lots...etc..

Very intersting view you wrote.

I think that MA wants more and more markup, because markup is an artificial money given to them by RL players with RL dollars.

So I agree that MA probably appreciate the resellers as they attract RL money into the game.

So, I think we can all agree that there is a lot of "bad" resellers out there.

Now the question is, if all resellers are realy that bad and why.
With the above example it is easy to see the reason why this is a "bad" reseller, but what about those who just makes use of the opportunity when it comes?

Some is shouting: "Selling something x% @ boxes" and some reseller recognises that it is a very good deal and rushes to the person to get part in the good deal and the first question is: "Are you a reseller? I don't sell to resellers."

This, again, is of course only an example, the question is, why should it matter?

Why should I care who buys my stuff as long as I get the price I ask?
Sure I can understand those who envy those who are able to make those good deal, fx. I have that ESI at auction now for 900% and I'll sure envy that person who buys it and sell it for 1000%, but I could just have set another price then. And who knows, maybe it took the reseller hours and hours to get that price. i'm not willing to spend that amount of time for a lousy 50 ped.
I completely agree. Only problem with resellers is when they take advantage of those who don't know better by lying about regular prices. Other than that, resellers are no different than ubers. They take advantage of an asset/ skill that they have and you don't to get extra profit that you couldn't get. Just like an uber can get a free LA or nice armor that none of us can, that isn't unreasonable of them to take advantage of.

Same thing by resellers. They have capital/ market knowhow. You can't wait until your oil oil/ lyst... gets to be a big enough stack to auction off so you TT it or drop it to a reseller for -4-5% he sells it in auction or to a crafter for full value. You win because you get something over TT, he wins because he gets a bit more markup.
Resellers are a neccessary part of any economy.

Just like everything you got good and bad. While hunting he other day a guy came a long with a big gun and killed my Mobs after lowering them down in HPs.

Also while sweating and the Mob is attacking me some like to come and kill the mob using the poor sweater as a decoy. Or the sweater that runs right at you with a line of mobs following so that they will attack you instead of him. So there is good and bad in everything. I am just glad others cannot still our claim rods

When I first started out mining I did not have enough resources to sell to anyone because it was just a lot of little. That is were the reseller/trader comes into play, helping the little guy sell his items then the trader groups it all up and sells to the end user.

Just like a manufacturer, builds product, sells to a distributor, who sells to the retail stores who ends up selling end users. Luckily in EU we only have one middle man instead of 3.

I have recently gotten into the trading side to help me sell my mining resources since I do not mine enough at once to have enough to sell. Plus I buy sweat at .5 just to resell at .5 to help newcomers make money without having to eventually sell to someone buying at .45.
