Ill try one...A reseller or reseller wannabe gave me a good laugh when he tried to manipulate prices for F vigi helmets a while ago, by bidding like 100 peds for the ones in aution, i threw in the ones i had fast i must admit :P, it all ended up with alot of ppl doing the same, price went havoc and poof we are where we are now, they are completely worthless and the market manipulator managed to do the complete opposite, probably ending up with less peds too

yes, it is bloody annoying when you see something you would like at a decent(?) price only to have two resellers bidding against you and each other...

on the other hand, it is a warm feeling when you see the same two resellers bidding against each other on an item you are selling

irl people trawl auctions looking for items/cars/property at a good price so they can take away and sell at a quick profit

I'm afraid to say that resellers don't dictate prices (ok, maybe short term), it's the buyers that do

If nobody would buy their 'over-priced' wares then they wouldn't do it

next time you go to a used car-lot ask him what he paid and where he bought it, pretty sure he wont tell you, but most of his stock is from auctions and trade-ins and he paid a lot lower than he is charging you

nothing, and I mean nothing, in Entropia has a real value of anything more than tt, it is only our perceived value, it's what the general poulation seems to think it is worth and how much they are willing to pay.

if MA said "sorry folks, but we're closing up in 3 weeks time and you all need to cash out ASAP" then everything would be worth exactly tt+0 in seconds

next time anybody really needs something then I suggest they follow the resellers example and camp out at auction for 18 hours a day until they see a bargain

I'm no great fan of resellers but it's just business to them, they are making money the best way they know how, they always will no matter what MA do to the auction fee's, the extra costs are just passed on in the resale price

as has been said before by many people: if you don't like the price then don't buy it

love them or hate them, they are a fact of life in Entropia and rl

+rep to you.

In the other recent resellers topic, I already gave a detailed explanation of why resellers have little power over the price of items, including examples. I also agrumented why resellers cant manipulate anything, except with shillbidding.

But no replies yet, as usual

The term reseller is directed to trading, which is the action a trader does, and i cn tell you that a trader is just like anything else in the world

Otherwise, grow your own vegetables instead of buying from grossery stores, and trust me, those are the true "scammers"...

Have you ever wondered why they make such nice promotions when they dont sell so much of a product? :P

anyways, a trader is like youre grossery store, and since you buy from them, that makes you the costumer, which means that you decide the price of the market... if you decide, "i dont want this, its overpriced" then theyre gonna lower the price after a while, of course, it cant just be you :p, has to be a big sample of costumers so that it impacts the sales on the product...

resellers helped me...selling stuff overpriced to em

once i saw someone bidding +100 ped on all vigi F helmets in auction, while relisting them for +150 or so. glad i had 2 of them in storage and posted em for +100 buyout or even more, 10 minutes later they were sold while normal rate was +5 or so

while i am sorry for people who might really wanted to buy one to use it, vigi F helmets aint that rare, so i doubt any "real" buyer had a disadvantage from that.

edit: just saw its the same cyane talked about

wow, two posts about the female vigiante helmets. too bad I missed that fury, I would have thrown mine in the mix to see if I could have mustered +100 for it as well. hahahahaha

I'm surprised that no one has said something along the lines of: "once I needed <something> really bad <for soom immediate reason>, so I bought an over-priced one anyway."

there's a capitalist axiom that states "whatever the market will bear". this mean, basically, squeeze as much out of teh customer as you can possibly get. fancy packaging and promotional campaigns (brand recognition) can make a 2 cent product "worth" a couple of dollars at retail.

this isn't really the point, here. we're talking about how people who live by this axiom may have helped you - either directly or indirectly.

silly, me. I had forgot a really obvious one.

once, I had been playing with one of my pets. he was starting to run low on food. I wasn't worried about this because I had another 300 bars in my storage. so, I ran him down to starvation.

well, as you probably figured out, when I open my storage, there was no food. I had previously brought it to my apartment.

so, I bought a few hundred overpriced bars from a reseller at the auction because I needed them now. it was either that or loose trust and experience with the ped. I figured it was worth the premium that I paid.

sad, but true.

Resellers help me dump my goods quickly, without having to bother finding my own buyer.

Best example for me was back with the previous ESI system. Whenever I looted one I could just throw it on the auction for 1 ped less than the going rate and get my 70-90 ped, almost instantly.

If/when resellers were able to increase the going rate of ESI's, it just made looting one afew ped sweeter. I could toss an ESI onto the auction and have it instantly devoured by the same resellers likely responsible for the increased price I received.

All that clamoring around, purchasing and relisting items, pushing prices up, doesn't bother me when I'm selling my looted items. Actually comes in handy, especially when you want to get quick cash and return to the hunt rather than try to find a buyer.

This might be the only positive angle.

Now dont get mad at me but I have attempted to enter the resellers market and time after time I have fail losing more than I gained. In reality being a reseller is just like any other proffession in this universe. You win some and You lose some so why be mad get glad.
When you hunt or mine, or craft, and make profit, "Making a profit of ignorance" is what you re doing.
