Like a sentry I guess. They would be stationed in certain areas and operating within a certain radius.. whenever they detect trubs they would automatically TP (successfully hehe) to the location and hit them with an uber *pop*

I like the idea of GMs. They exist in other games. Obviously they'd have to be incorruptable so as not to abuse power.

I say rotational duty...a few good players get to be GMs for a certain amount of time then a new crew takes their place, etc, until its your turn again.

Also the GMs would have to undergo a probationary/training period prior to doing any real heavy stuff.

Indeed. And, if the organization is put together correctly it can be nearly exploit proof.

I think this is one area MA really needs to step up if they are to grow exponentially. They must provide ingame security and policing if they expect people to trust the system and feed the system more cash.

i would LOVE to see som GM in this game.
some time i meet MA avatar here or there ( i speack about the official).
and best they do is show to noob where is the TT.
i agree to say its nice. but i think it would be better , if they log som time here and there in town.
1) we can get used to them , right now when they aêar evryone run on them like if it was jesus. in other game GM dont got that GOD statue... they are see as GM but nothing more.
2)they can write in red som warning in town , like when someone use an imote like moron , spawn the chat because he sell crap....
3) lock for 1 day people that use very crap language...
4) learn about bug , exploit..... we hear lot of things in town.

the good point is if they log som often ( like 10 or 20 eatch time and 2 or 3 time per day) we get used to see them , but better is , evryone know they can apear evrywhere ,when ever ....i guess that would help a lot to keep the game "clean"

Most definitely! Game masters would be great! Sure, there would be issues of integrity that would have to be hashed out, but overall I think it's a fantastic idea and am sorry I did not think of it

In other games I've played where GMs are present you got a warning for spamming or swearing, then they'd Mute you for 24 hours if you persisted.

3rd offense you got locked for 24 hours. 4th you got shutdown for 7 days and the 5th...permbanned.

These action weren't carried out by a single GM,it was voted on by at least one other so as not to allow the GM to abuse power.

Edit: One could example of how this system works would be a scenario:

Lets say the GMs need to travel in pairs...a buddy system. When they come upon a player doing something offending it would require the both of them to agree to a course of action( lets say a MUTE), much like agreeing to team up if your hunting.

It resolves the issue of any one person being able to wield absolute power. Harsher offenses would require more than 2 GMs.

This system works because everyone is answerable to the next GM or team of GMs. Its an honor system thats pretty inviolate when as a GM should you try to abuse your power your own team can shut you down.

I agree with what Etopia and DD said about the community. They have created the charts, the forums and the guides. Much of the work is on MA to liven things up. I think PE is great but a few things need to change.
  • Fix the nickname bug on logon! grrr
  • Make content quests happen at more than just MA opening hours. The other day it was 9 AM MA time and a thorio attack. The US players are asleep, the EU players are at work and the addicts are the only ones there. (i was there also )
  • Open the market up fairly. Someone from the same IP as the item owner in auction can not bid the price up. Stop the people with 10 accounts who are all selling ores for 15% more than market. (look at auction ores and you will see a trend) PE is more than just trading or manipulating the market for profit. So many traders these days and less hunters. More hunters = better loot.
  • Limit the number of a certain type of item that one avatar can own. (12 nemesis thighs is not necessary)
    (Resellers and market dominators encourage people to trade and prices go up. fair enought to an extent but it causes players to deposit more money to afford to play and less money for decay - MA profit) Its too hard for someone to make a Nemesis set becasue someone has all the thighs. People are put off by this.
  • As said, Mentoring needs a rework. Too many professional disciples that build trust to scam the mentor. Loan items to disciples only would be great. A disciple will build an opinion of PE based on their experience. Some mentors can show them hunting and encourage them to deposit loads whereas the Mentors who stand in PA dont really give the disciple a good experence. I know many nubs with mentors who wont bring them to the rig. Base mentor skill also on time spent with them?
  • Bring back the old vets. Create content that makes them want to come back. Dont be lazy and slow down the skill system instead of just making the environment tougher. So what if some get 250 HP... make bigger mobs. With only 1/5 of Amethera open, why not create tougher things? 10k skills shouldnt be the end, start the levels again (Adept Master, Inspiring Master etc)
  • Content is a big issue. I know many see PE similar to nintendo duck hunt with a credit card deposit system. More than just hunt this or mine that. Make content that allows people to come together. An eomon invasion where people get loot regardless if they did most damage or on a killing team but based on if they helped kill it. (allows everyone to benefit in an attack when they help rather than just the uber in 5B Shadow getting paid) I know we get the odd quest in CL now and then, but it needs to be diverse. Not just hunt. Create enemies who battle for something like its done at the rig. Create alliances to overcome something. Drones attacking a certain soc becasue they did something and that soc needs help.
  • Market stalls for rent like shop keepers but cost 10 ped per hour based in cities. One per avatar and per IP. Reduce the sales chat spam and allow new players to roam around shopping and compare.
  • Sales of Full Armor Sets in auction or shopkeepers (off topic :P)
  • Mini Turrets around the revives and shop on amethera. These kill anyone doing damage to another player. There are examples of these turrets in Twin, Echidna and Corinth. I hate getting revived killed by a Falx. But a nub who is killed over and over by a moron wont enjoy the game when being abused.
  • We need promotional materials. They need to supply Players with Logos and info that can be used when we visit LAN events or other places where Players can promote PE. I dont have a problem buring 10 copies of PE to pass out to mates. But I cant becasue nothing like that exists. We need MA endorsed banners and icons. 80x100 gifs that we can place on websites or banners to help promote in forums. EA who owns BF2 has made things like this for players to promote their rank/stats and generate more players. Give me an ISO to download and burn that autoruns and has a video presentation with a install button.
  • We need clearer dialogue with MA. This recent info about investors and the info about investigation... Not helping us to WANT to be part of it and invest. I know MA is a guest here and all that, but there are times when MA needs to talk and they disappear. Spider trapping... autoclicking... lots of heated discussions that MA could have ended with an authorative answer.
  • Most of all, we need representation. I would like to see a player council. Elected by the community to talk with MA about the future. Not just the talking heads or loudest on forums, but people who can actually contribute to the future/development/content/idea of PE. MA needs to show us that they are as interested in us as we are interested in them.

I believe much of this is needed to help people come into PE and get a good experience so that they stay for long term. It also allows experienced people to aid them in a safe way. A community voice which is acknowledged will help steer this game the way that is most enjoyable but also profitable for MA.

I tried to be constructive and on topic here. If not, sorry :P Also, sorry for mixing some of my thoughts with ideas that I have cut and pasted from other forums.

i played game with kinda same system...
also they write on forum all day , who is punished , what is the punishment , and why...

its very impresive to see even when server is 5000 + ACTIVE player per day..
after 2 or 3 week , how the things works well.
only som mute here and there and its very to see people do more than 3 eror...

I just quickly want to touch on the GM concept...

I think it's a good idea. But, not just anyone should be able to become one. It's kind of a Judge Dredd type role. And a GM would be the "Public Protector" of this virtual world... which is a role sorely lacking from PE. PE is almost like the old Wild West, lawless :P

marco can make a vote thread with like 20 name..
or the communoti can create thread to gatherer name and we vote after on the major forum.

find like 6 or 7 old fair player ... that we all respect for what they did in game , what they say in forum... i do not think its soo hard.

and if someone feel about power abuse its possible to report MA take looks at logs ... and do what they have to do.

but if GM can only write in special color to warm , and give punishement like mute for 24 hour.. i think its enought to make game a lot more civilised.

something that is very needed is interface improvement , to make things like trade chat..., area chat , town chat...
