Shop prices way up to high?
Dont get me wrong , i really like the idea of shops , they are here to stay and i hope they take over the market. But , prices are way to high , looking for a Justifier MKII , peauction says tt+18 , Discount store at twin peaks says tt+27. Seen a lot of stores holding MKII at tt+40 and above. I can buy a MKII at buyout on auction @ tt+20 .... Why do the shopowner overprice the items? the volume would be better with prices in line with peauction or slightly above. Just some thoughts , i really hope MA makes some changes to auction to make shops work better for everyone. Would be better if shops could make buy requests on the auction to which we could sell our items. Maybe i shouldnt worry , as it takes some time for shopowners to stock up and as they do less items will appear in auction. ? // ermik |

Maybe it's like irl - when you buy milk its cheap - competition
When you buy wine its more expencive (they have to get what the loose on milk). No big deal imho - if ppl buy overprice in shops or by a reseller ppl just want the item that bad. Dont expect that shopownere just give away stuff for free. It's expencive to run a shop you know. |

tbh i dont understand why we have shops in this game. I mean if the shops are cheaper then auction, then ppl just buy and resell at auction for the profit. If the shop is dearer then auction then ppl just buy off the auction.
Why buy a shop and pay all that tax and fees, not to mention the massive peds to buy shop in first place, when its prolly cheaper and easier to just place items in auction. I admit window shopping is like a new activety in the game, but if i want a item i normally just look in auction, and normally i find if the auction dont have it, the shops dont either, so whats the point?? Only exception seems to be uber items, but kinda hard to justify buying a shop to sell 1 or 2 uber items, forums etc are prolly a better way to go with that. The only way i can see shops realy working is if MA nerf the auction big time, and I realy, realy hope they dont do that. I believe shops must be paying there way, esle every1 would be selling them up, just dont see how, but then again i've never been a salesman, GL to any1 that can make profit from a shop, just to my logical mind ,it beats me, how? Not bashing shops or anything just my thoughts about said subject,+ im kinda worried that i feel another ma nerf coming up. |

The shop owner have to pay tax for each item that is sold also. That tax will be added to the TT+ price when the retail price is set by the seller.

the mk11 price at my shop was a mistake, it should have been +21.
its now been corrected (at least i think i corrected it) , i think this is a fair price. i have 6 shops to run, I set alot of item prices, and sometimes i get prices wrong, either wrong price on wrong item, or just it the wrong button on the price setter. but shops have to compete, and if they are too expensive, no one will buy, so they will either close , or lower thier prices. another thing to note is that prices fluctuate on the auction, but shop owners cannot alway keep up with this. I know i chack peauc when setting the price, but then i leave it. if the market price drops, my items will look expensive. I cant recheck all preices for items every day, i have 600+ items on displays. I try to keep things as low as I can. |

So why wont a reseller come and stop buy and buy my shop out. First if he does then good for me i just turned over my whole shop and made a profit on every item. Second he wasnt a very smart reseller becouse the couple of %'s that he will make buying my ores and compnents probably wont cover his cost to put it up on auction. Second paragraph you say why not just put it in auction in the first place? Well i like running a shop, some poeple like to hunt, mine, craft. I like to run a business as well as trade. If im making only 1-6% of every item sold, then the auction will eat up most of that. You also said that if you cant find it on auction then the shops wont have it either. I can understand this logic, it takes time to shop, many shops are not taken care of. But if you have an hour or two to burn then take a stroll over calypso, youll be surprized by what you find in some of these shops...the other day i found langotz stone for 250% this stuff goes on auction buy out for 500% or more. Needless to say it went to a friend. How does a shop owner make peds to pay for the monthly fee's? well i wont tell you all my business secrets but i will say that i can get 30 or more sales a day, more on weekends at my location. At a profit rate of 1-6% on the items i sell then its not too shabby, sure i spend some time getting the ores and components i need to sell at reasonable prices. But i also have miners come to me selling there wares becouse they dont want to wait. so you may say that it is reselling? Hardly im not charging an arm and a leg and i want to see turn around so i charge according to what people will pay....and i will say this, without mentioning any names, i do have more than a couple UBER crafters stop in my store on a daily basis for there crafting wares. As far as i know the shop owner does not pay taxes, the buyer does. But at 2.5% its harldy a big deal expecially if your buying buyout on auction for 20-40% more than what its auctually worth. It is possible to make money running a shop, it just takes time and a business sence. |
