10 'Secrets' of the Entropian Economy

1 MindArk is a business and must make a profit.

2 MindArk cannot pay out (loots) more than they get in (deposits / advertising).

3 Only a minority of players will make a profit, only a few of those will make a living, and even fewer will make a fortune.

4 If you win today, you will probably lose tomorrow.

5 The best way to profit is from other players - not from MindArk.

6 No one will ever work out the looting system (mining / hunting / crafting) - if they do MindArk will change it.

7 If you deposit big, you might win big. If you deposit small, you might win small. If you don't deposit at all it will be a long hard slog.

8 If players do not deposit the game will stop.

9 You expect to pay to go to the cinema, you expect to pay for a night in the pub. Entropia is a form of entertainment, so why not pay for it.

10 The economy of Entropia will keep changing - sometimes in small steps, some times in giant leaps. Adapt!

8 is true enough but 7... not so true. there have been 3 week old newbies hit and ATH and there are 3 year depositors that havent had more than a couple of globals

This should be "cash out" not "pay out". MA can hand out all the items and PED they want. They only need to cover the cost when someone tries to cash out those PEDs.

Not nessarily so. Larger deposits would give you more chances to win big by participating more and performing more expensive tasks. It does not mean you will get a bigger return.

There's some good nuggets of wisdom and common sense in there that I only wish more people would actually realise.

May I also offer a number 11:

11. If you never deposit, pay for, or contribute in any constructive way towards the service that you are using, then you are not necessarily in a position to complain about the level or quality of the service that you may receive. You get what you pay for. MindArk is not a charity that exists to provide your entertainment.
