MasterCard says Entropia is on their Gaming List

After having a problem with a recent deposit, (the funds are still in limbo land aka the twilight zone), the fraud investigation branch of my credit card provider (MasterCard) informs me that Entropia Universe is on their "watch list" and will be blocked along with any other gaming or gambling sites as soon as US legislation passes banning Internet Gaming and Gambling.

So US gamers might be out of luck soon .........

Some of the US banks now have Entropia on their watch list as well. I have three checking accounts (2 personal and one business) and I can use my debit card from two of those accounts, but not one of the personal checking accounts. When I contacted that particular bank because of my Visa Debit card not working, they told me that EU was considered a gambling site. So yeah, I think you are right when you say we may have problems down the road. It started the same way when I was trying to fund my poker account. At first all the cards would work, then slowly but surely, one by one they stopped letting the transactions go through. Now I can't fund my poker accounts at all. I am considering opening up a bank account in the Caymen Islands to see if i can circumvent the system though

This has to be the dumbest law ever. How hard is it to get an online bank account in some other country with a credit card attached to it? Or is that illegal as well?

I think the us goverement is smart here, lol they goona do this and no other contry gonna see what happened. While US is allowing internet gaming/gambling on servers inside US this will allow player from both US and the whole world influx money in Us economy, But forbid US citizins playing outside US borders , no dollars will leave the country.. Im not surprised if goverments aruond the globe will notice this until its to late to do anything...

Wouldn't getting a VISA instead of a credit card from MC solve the situation?

sometime illegal and if not usually very difficult. most banks require residency, either due to local laws or company policy to minimise exposure to fraud.

to the OP, that legislation is already passed i thought? its a funny thing because it gets the CC companies to police internet gambling since they cant do it directly (free speech and all).

anywho, there are plenty of once use or rechargeable credit cards products out there which can be used to circumvent this. Or, someone in the community from a country more conducive to gambling might be able to provide a service taking payments
