ah, thats better, i feel safe to post now.

excersie some self control ffs.

i hunted hard with maddox 4 and ml35 18months ago, made losses- about 1000ped per month, wich i though was too much (skills just not up too it, even at teh 4k average mark) so i scaled back, hunted things that were more suited to my skill. and most importantly i used sib weapons with amps, that i had full mastered.

if you can't afford it, dont do it. you cant blame MA.

most people will loose money here, thats how ma stay in business, but its pay as you go entertainment, which means you can cut the cost to zero at any moment.

Well, i think a lot of people exercise self-control and some don't. The ones that do exercise self-control still lose big. Though i must say, i have trouble having pity on people who deposit 100s and 100s of dollars a month and then come whining several months later.

Depositing so much and then realizing you shouldn't have... sounds to me like some sort of gambling problem... Lets not get into that debate again though . The key to success is patience and hard work. Most people have 1 of the two, but not both...

Grow up

I am sorry you lost control over your game habit. No one at MA put a gun to your head and forced you to play. I have had an account for 2 years now. When loots and things went bad I just did not play for a few weeks and for awhile I did not play for 3 months. I really am sorry for the money you lost and hopefully no family members suffered. We all must take responcibility for our own actions. It conserns me to hear others have throwen good money after bad. I see where you all fall into the trap that you are the best game player and you don't lose you only make profit but then the odds catch up. That is when the men and the boy are seperated. The men can walk and come back another day, the boys scratch their heads bewildered and keep tossing money. I do hope you all well in life and take this as a lesson in growing up. Might be time for you to go play a game that requires only a monthly fee since you don't have the control to play EU. But suspect you will all be back here playing and complaining and tossing away your money.

MA provides a service which is primarily meant to be fun, and to cost some money.

There are many ways to 'use' MA service:
  • You can gather sweat, dung, fruit and spend it on 'fun' like hunting mining, and thus enjoy MAs service for free.
  • You can have more of the fun, with less of the boring stuff for a low price, if you deposit a little and stick with the small/cheap gear
  • You can play BIG, buy the big gear, have load of fun, be a tough guy... but it ofc costs BIG bucks too
  • You can use MAs service as an investment, by depositing big bucks and buying LAs, Hangars, Uber/Rare gear etc. It has great profit potential, but also great risks
  • You can be a trader, and with little risk make some money... If you're good at it, you can even make quite a lot
  • You can... (Art, Chat, DJ, bla bla bla... Fill in more examples)

The 'problem' with EU is that it's quite addictive, and we need self control to stay at the level, where we are comfortable with the cost.

It's hard... But it's really up to you, how much you spend in EU.

Your post just reminded me of something. It's funny how people say when things go bad, they stop playing for months. Should it be like that? I mean, it almost sounds like people are afraid of playing. If the game was balanced, people wouldn't have to stop for months. Plus, it would be in MA's interest to not let people take breaks. But hey, i'm not MA, i don't know what they want! I'd be interested to know the retention rate is for EU though.... like, 1 players keeps on playing for every 15 newcomers?

Like i said before, hard to have pity on people who deposit lots in one shot, but some people actually try to play normally and economically and lose so much.

Been playing since 04 and been using same gear for like 2 years now, well back then the peds lasted longer then they to do today. youґd think that with the skills youґd get better return.

the biggest problem as I see it is that MA has focused so hard to create business opportunities for people and forgotten about how to create good fun. i just hope that new things will come and that they check the balance abit.

What you described is the very essence of entropy as i understand it. Don't get me wrong, when I started I was doing the 12 hour a day grind 7 days a week. My losses/timeframe were very comparable to yours, maybe a month shorter time though. After most skills and all equip was gone I set the game aside for a long time. I decided to rethink my approach to the game and have done well for myself since. I don't hunt for globals anymore, notariety(sp?) means nothing to me these days. I quit my soc, though the people were great and fun, the competition over skills/status caused me to push my wallet further than I should. Plus I can be friends w/ anyone, soc or not. I changed my gear, I don't care what the biggest trox I can take down is anymore. SIB/maxed stats weapons are the one really good thing that's come from the whole (L) movement, due to efficiency of course. And I learned when to stop, there is no defeat in logging off. I don't presume to know anything, and there is no magic answer, everyone loses. I've been in the sinking boat you're in, I just hopped over to one w/ a smaller hole. Whatever your future in EU brings, best of luck.

Hi,
Some of you may know me others may not. As those that know me will confirm I was a player that played 7 days a week upto about 8 hours every night without fail..

Well.. my absence in EU has been through some major losses of which I would like to make others aware of that are maybe new to the game..

My losses are in excess of 50k+ peds in under 7 months with abosolutly no return on investment.. I'm not expecting a profit, god no! (I expect to pay for entertainment just as we all do), but I began to get concerned when the money rapidly started to dissapear, that was then funded by chipping out my skills and selling my posseions etc, this continued to fund me in the last few months until all the ped, skills, weapons and equipment had gone..
I started to maybe think that my ava may have a bug so contacted MA Support and filed my case and requested that checks were made to check out my thoughts of a bug....

I was astounded to get a reply back saying that they would carry out the checks but it would be leived with a fee!!! I mean.. after 50k+ losses.. I dont think so!! So, they agreed to continue without the fee..

This was on the 4th July 2007.. many, many replys went back and forth between us, MA claiming it was due to my low skills.. my weapons, techniques etc etc and they stated that there was nothing wrong with my account!
The 1st support case was closed so I sumitted a second as many questioned were left unanswered and all their findings were reported without proof and they refused to prove that checks had actually been carried out only to advise me to depo again and stating my luck would change sooner or later.. after two further depo's.. nothing.. again I submitted the amounts depoed, the time it took to lose it all and the date etc to MA Support but still nothing!!

All cases have now been closed by MA and they are forwarding my case to Release Manager or somebody to look again.. I feel like I'm just being pushed around the office and will end up in someones waste bin!

I informed MA Support that I would make others aware of the facts over the last 7 months and well, thus this post...

I miss Entropia Universe more than I can tell you all but for those maybe just looking to join or start a proffesion, please take the time to read this post and decide for yourselves if its a good move or not!!

50k+ peds is a lot to lose in just 7 months ( I have played EU for 2yrs)

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and my best regards to you all

Jack Scudd Samuels

MA
I totally agree with you, after they changed the loots, i remeber it said on version update, loot have been adjusted, since then the jhofs have been huge and the return on investment has been 50-60%
I think they made a big mistake in doing that. I know for a fact many hardcore hunters choose not to hunt anymore , im one of them, i used to hunt 8 hours a day and depo constantly, but now its a rip off ,scam, robbery. a little bit of each. All we as players can do is show MA what we think about loots by hunting less, they will be forced to change, if not be prepared to lose mucho grande amounts of peds if you do hunt.

Hello,

There is a commercial where I live that is targeted towards people who visit the casinos and I think it applies to this virtual casino as well:

"Know you limit, play within it."

If you are going to deposit think of it as a playing fee and that it is gone to moment you put the money in, because for most of us it is gone.

BTW, I'm with Hooters (not literaly). I don't deposit. That makes everything I have profit (if I ever cash out - not likely).

Good luck

Grounder
