I think it's great...and i would say congrats and be very happy for him if he hit it big(er).

He's worked hard and gotten to where he is by being smart and thinking about what his next move is before just blasting away. ...okay all of this is an assumption...i don't know Skippie or anything about him but the way he's advanced tells me he's no dummy...

I love to see people succeed in this game and have great respect and admiration for people who have done so.

I know a lot of my friends cuss and get upset when someone hits a "big one" my heart does not sink when i see a big hoff or ath light up my chat box...far from it. It is proof that it can be done and that we all have a chance at that "big one".

It's when they dry up and aren't showing that we should all frown and worry.

Good Luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed that this project is a huge success and puts you into the ATH charts!

You say its easy to profit, of course you can say that. MA gave you noobhofs! You wouldn't be singing the same tune if you had eco hunted for a mere 15 months and never hoffed now would ya? If I was one of MA's lucky looters, that played all this time on $200-300 of depo's, I'd probably see things your way too.


Instead, we've played for 2 yrs on 20-25K worth of deposits, hunting eco, camping mobs for HOURS, following loot cycles, hunting mobs that are ready to hof, etc. Always to watch some random noob land the big loots. My wife has likely chipped more skill to keep playing between depo's than most of these people that try to tell me how easy it is to play eco even have. That tends to aggrevate a person after awhile

I am really REALLY sick of people blaming poor loot on stupidity. Saying that you are not hunting eco enough yadda yadda blah blah kiss my ass ok. It has nothing to do with that. Ive depo'd a shit load of money, I have skilled, I have hunted in a wasteful manner and I have hunted eco with the best of them. Ive mined, crafted, hunted, sweated, colored, you name it.
Ive done this in a lil under 2 years and have never EVER had a loot over 1k peds. Dont tell me its skill when mr joe nooby noobman yanks off a 10k baby trox...every week... every month.

Besides, Binfordw is right, I have chipped out , regained, chipped out, and regained more skill than mr joe nooby noobman could even fathom.

I beleive from the git go some people are chosen to feed this loot pool and some are chosen to swim in its profit, regardless of the circumstances.

NOTE: Knew a round like this was out there. The Equus were quick to oblidge. Was about 150 PED down at the middle of the run and almost called it a day on that mob, decided to finish the run anyway and doubled the loss. Oh well, no biggie, it'll come back. Probably my last run on Equus, however.

P.S: There were no globals on this hunt, but I did find a shit load of fruit!

You can almost break even with the amount of fruits you find every hunt lol

thanks for the compliment, angel. i'd say i am far from knowing everything there is to know by far, but i strive on a daily basis and have been since i was a simple animal hide salesman in oct 2005 to learn on a daily basis from my experience and to make the correct choices to continue to get ahead.

i have much to learn. i have far left to go.

you know, xen, i very rarely craft. when i do it's gen leather textures or filters, or some crap like that just to push total skill a tiny bit. i also occasionally mine for health purposes. with that said i haven't done any of that since i started this skilling run. i do put pretty much everything i loot besides ammo on auction, so i do pay ma a good bit of auction fees on a daily basis.

i will be doing some amped and armored team hunts in between hunts for this experiement, and i'm sure it will make the results a little less than scientific. but as i stated at the first post, i'd be doing some 500-1000 ped skilling runs on various smallish mobs and posting the results.

i don't really understand where ma gets their ped. i suspect the 30ish ped per hunt i am currently running goes to them. i suspect when armor decays it does as well, teleport chips, etc and the like. i do however feel that when one player looses a large chunk to the loot system, that system comes along and gives it to another player. so that largely when players feel ripped off by ma, they should look at the player that hit the 8k feff.

regardless, having hit an 18k krelt, a 10k aurli, a 5k aurli, a 4k drone, and many, many 1-2k hofs over the years, i can't really complain when some of my lost peds go to someone else through the system. usually they find their way back to me in good time.

i have long felt that profit in game comes from the players. be it selling crafted goods at a higher % than break even cost it took to craft it. selling loot or mining materials for market and breaking even that way. for me, personally i profited about 70k from october of last year to feb of this, largely through the looting of esis, L guns, L armor parts, and various loots that are regularly sold for decent %. this was done shooting an i2870, wearing angel 5b, paying lurid decay costs and amping my gun to the max. on those hunts i would generally loose on tt and more than make up the loss to the system selling off the farmed items on auction.

infact, i've said before, my gear is like a blueprint for esis, L guns, etc. just as a crafter has a lot invested in his ability to say pull p5a, ore amp 105, or ghoul. i have an investment in my ability to regularly "craft" items that far, far exceed the cost of the loss from the hunting process needed to produce them.

in feb, i looted two esis that i sold for ~10k. the rest of the month was a dead heat breakeven, regardless of the small hofs and what not that laid in the way. i never hit a hof over about 700 ped. no ath, no 1k+ tt loots, etc. and for this reason i have no problems with the claims being made by hawk that he generally breaks even or profits everyday, not just when he hits large ambulimax hofs. infact, i did it with just an i2870, so why is it so incredible to believe a high skilled player with gear can make it work on mobs that regularly loot esis and what not.

so anyhow, more or less, the reasoning for testing the MM on the small mobs is two fold.

one, i'm 35 levels away from 10k handgun, a goal for a very long time, and the skills are flying towards it faster than you could believe. on aurli in dome 4 i think it would take me a month to hit that goal, on these mobs i will probably have that done in a week or so. every mob is a tantillon when you shoot a MM at it, except for tantillons, because they are just 1-2 shot mobs at that point.

and secondly, i often see ppl complaining that they lose lose lose on the forums. my experience has been a different path perhaps. but given that i have a 2.79 dam per pec eco on what some say is the best gun in game that i pay 100% decay to use, i figured i'd test out if it was even possible for a mod merc owner to break even on those mobs. in pe i think it was possible to shoot an imk2 or MM at just about anything and profit. in eu, perhaps it's no longer possible. maybe it is. i hope to get a glimpse to see.

so far in three runs i've had a profit run, a break even run and a pretty miserable excuse for a loss. overall i've lost 10%, or seen a 90% return, a figure easily made from the sale of the loots gathered during the process at market %.

the mobs i'm hunting for this thread do not often loot anything worth an actual %. so far the best hunt has been the nearly break even round on drones due to the amount of farmed gazz. in 2.5k peds of ammo so far i have yet to see even a 10 ped esi, an L gun or anything that can actually make a less than break even return work. i'll be turning my attention to feffs, probably, back to drones, maybe even working some argo, as i have long felt those mobs that drop a regular flow of % market stuff are the way to go for players on that level. hell i might even go kill a few (eek!) molisks.

anyhow thanks for following the results. time to get back to work.

actually when i used to deposit, i used a pre paid mastercard. not sure if it was lucky or not.
