If you look at my Mob Ladder you'll see that I didn't include Combibos in the Beginner category. As others have said, Combibos have never been suitable for this type of hunting.

If your friend wants to use M2100 then I would suggest hunting small snables at Atlas Haven, or for an extra challenge, Daikiba and Exas.

Took me a few days before I realized that it is getting me nowhere and there were quite some hours of sweating involved.

Just to be clear - I'm talking about Combibo youngs. They are near PA and the Swamp Camp which are areas populated with new players.

Maybe it was the same situation before the last VU - if that's the case I'm not sure it was a good thing either.

My point is the areas just around the new player areas are mostly like to be used for the first solo hunts. A player sells some sweat or makes a small deposit and heads out of PA. They encounter a Combibo Young and can't kill it with a weapon bought from a TT.

So, my point is, you should be able to kill those noobish mobs just outside PA with the TT weapons. In solo fashion.

Now not too far outside PA the mobs get a little bigger. Then that is where team hunting would come in.

If there were only very easy mobs at PA and Swamp Camp, there'd be no variety or challenge.

As it is, if you go south or east of PA you'll find small Combibos and Exas. This is exactly where I first started hunting, and I soon learnt that I should leave the Combibos for now, and just kill Exarosaur Youngs. I worked out how to (mostly) avoid the Combibos by recognising the aggro patterns. Two important lessons learnt in hunting!

It wasn't long before I heard that Snablesnots were easier than Exarosaurs, and that I'd find them at Camp Phoenix. So I was encouraged to go there, and get my first TP. Another important milestone!

In those days I wouldn't dream of taking on a Berycled, so when I hunted in the area north of PA (where the Swamp Camp is now), I tried to stick to Daikibas only.

The Tripudion to the West were monsters beyond compare, and I looked forward to the day I was able to kill those

As for the time I stumbled into the Maffoids and Feffoids to the East, I soon found out that that wasn't a place for me to be exploring just yet, especially when I ended up, after I died, at the outpost west of Troy and ran into my first big Atrox and Araneatrox. That certainly gave me a sense of perspective.

It's all part of the rich tapestry that is EU.

Actually Combibos are killable using the Opalo, which can be found in the TT. The m2100 has half the dps, is not ampable and has meager range so is a very poor benchmark. Combis are not very fast, so using an Opalo you should get a good 3-4 shots in before it even reaches you (assuming 0 skill here so slower reload time). So with a bit of luck a new player can kill a young one. However they are the most formidable critter in the PA environs and are therefore much more suitable for team hunts. The young Daiki and Exa are much much easier and offer plenty of hunting opportunities to the young hunter.

If you want to complain about tough creatures near starting areas, then you may as well complain about the 2nd biggest sweating factory ... Nea's place. Lots of eager sweaters there, many of them new players. Care to guess what would happen if one of them tried to solo an Ambu with the TT pistol?

For the record, you can no longer kill maffoids with the cb5 either.

You could, now you cant so you dont.

But seriously tho, maybe you should be able to. Now you cant, and im not sure its a horrible thing? I think i woulda liked it better when i was new if i could solo the exas and then for a challenge jump a bibo solo, or for a more challenging hunt team up with someone to hunt them. Its not the worst way to meet new people?

Combibo indeed been changed. So I do not recomend hunting young with opalo. I do not say it is not possible but it is not economical now. I would recomend opalo + a101 for Combibo hunting close to PA.

Please note that using opalo with A101 amp becomes economical as soon as you reach level 5 in laser dmg profession.

Thoreau has a point and the worst part of this is that it simply frustrates new players and scares them away before they have even had a chance to learn from their mistakes and how this game really works... it's a frustrating experience and it does not help the influx of new players... if at least you have some success at the beginning of the game, you get hooked and you try something harder and if you fail, you go back to where you were.. .but if the first hunt with TT equipment ends in tears.. it's not helping..
