Hunting services....an Uberhoffer Review

As many of you know, Max Uberhoffer is a CND avatar and rarely wanders off the rock to participate in other things. Of course, that changed when I went bankrupt and had to sell my skills to pay debts. As a skilless noob, I have turned my attentions elsewhere.

So late Thursday night, Eastern time, I was chatting with a friend about hunting services. It was noted that Stoikow and Jenna Star Mercury were knocking off mobs for a flat fee each mob. They allowed the patron to loot said mob, taking only 10% of hits totaling 1K peds or more. So, I asked the question, "Could this be true? Could it be profitable? Would it add to my experience as a citizen of Calypso?" So I set out to see just exactly if these services were worth peds paid out. As a good citizen, I am sharing this review with you.

I met up with Jenna in dome 16 of CND to inquire about her new service. Jenna was a tad busy at the time, as she (I use she here, as the avatar is female) had a contract for a ton of daspletors to be sliced, diced, and delivered to a patron. I had a couple of peds to rub together, so I waited patiently for a crack at her service. When she was ready, we headed down VIP style in her sister's ship to the planet below.

I offered Jenna 200 peds and asked for her opinion on what to kill. Daspletors were out of my price range at 42 peds per kill, so I wanted to find something uber, yet economical. She suggested scripulors. Now I have never even seen a scripulor before, but I was game for anything.

The procedure would be simple enough, follow her and loot what she kills. All loot was set to go to the looter. I had a problem with this, however. I had no TP chip (Max Uberhoffer doesn't do jumping on the planet). Jenna was more than patient, running me out to the scripulor grounds some one half hour (unchipped) SW of Oshiri. She killed the first one off the tape, so that she could figure out how much to charge per scripulor. I was off the meter. The amount came out to 9ped/scripulor or about 22 kills (she generously gave me a few extras later on).

We arrived at the LA with those beasts and I am not sure how to describe them. Perhaps you could call them grasshoppers with a scorpion's tail and the smile of a hoggolo. She killed the first one for me, and I would have to say I was not impressed with the loot on ole #1. It took us until #4 before we hit a global. That was impressive.

After #4, she started having internet connections. This worried me; not because she would cheat anyone but because I might have had to wait until a later date for the continuation of the hunt and I would be stuck in the land of scripulors until then. She came back about 10 minutes later and I was relieved. On with the hunt! #9 gave us the beauty pictured here.

#15 gave us yet another global but the disconnect monster came to roost with us once again at #17. After about 5 minutes or so, she returned and was caught in the middle of a swarm of scripulors. We died most heroically. She apologized once again for the disconnect and we were at the revive point for the LA. To compensate for my lack of chip and for the disconnects, she gave me an extra few kills and decided to go do them herself while I waited at the revive point. There was one more global to be had, and I was a happy camper. Star was honest and gave me all the loot from her kills that I did not attend.

I spent 200 peds on her services and received over 300 peds in oils and of course, the SER 500 (200% markup). Jenna Star Mercury was kind, pleasant, and courteous during the entire hunt despite the inconvenience of my not having a chip. It was a pleasant experience and a fun time to be had by all.

On to the cautions of this sort of business: First of all, nothing is guaranteed. EU (as preached to us over and over again by support) is dynamic. Loots may or may not be good at the time you hire your hunting service. There are no guarantees you will make peds.

Secondly, unless someone you know and trust recommends a service: take a pass. I highly recommend Jenna Star Mercury and I have had friends use the services of Stoikow. Other than that, be careful! There will be, no doubt, many scammers out there that will try to get your peds posing as a hunting service. Know your service provider! Jenna and Stoikow are not going to cheat anyone, but I can not speak for all providers.

Again, for a nice night of hunting mobs you wouldn't dare touch with your noob skills, consider one of these fine hunting guides. You can spend as little or as much as you like. It is still the same slot machine, but some folks can play them better than others. What else were you planning to do with those peds...Buy an atrox egg?

yeah you made over 700 ped return on 200 ped investment and the reason star doesnt just hunt herself and make tons of peds is because she just wants to help noobs...

I corrected my math...I made 300 peds in oils and the SER 500 for over 500 total peds....

And no....
I never said she wants to help noobs. I am sure she makes peds off of it, and I stated the risks. You could lose a ton doing this or you could just as easily hof big. I am just reviewing the service. Although, I imagine the biggest attraction is the fact that it is free skilling for the person providing the service. For those of us without skills, it is a good way to access a better class of slot machine.
