Yep, I went to the Riker UL1 (L) after the M3a. Then the UL2...then the UL3....then the Breer M4A(L)....

Those all go very quickly, you only need to go through 1-2 of each gun before it is maxed and you can move on to the next one. The M4a looks like it could take a small while to max though..

Also, the HIT ability seems to max WAY before the DMG ability for me...not sure why that is.

Im just a tad ahead of you bud, and yes I went to the Riker1 next, and am going to go through 1,2,3 and then back to the final Breer as others have said. The link provided about SIB for guns is veryyyy helpful

not really, i just use Emik to finish a mob every here and then, but basically that's 500 ammo a week - not real pistol skilling

That is really weird...I use the Emik S50 to finish off mobs as well. My Damage skill is literally one whole gun behind my Hit skill. When I first bought the M4a I did not meet the SIB requirement for (Dmg) yet, but I had already maxed, and lost the SIB for (Hit). I hope these eventually even out...its really annoying.

I use the opalo a lot when i am 95ish % away from the SIB on the next highest weapon instead of buying the same one again...maybe that has something to do with it?
