Melee v Range - a test project

I've decided I need a little break. This will mess up the recording of skills a bit but that's not the point of this test anyway.

When I get back from a short break i'll do half the p5a run, then i'll alternate runs till I complete the full test.


Here's what happened to the main knife skills, the number in brackets shows the tt of the chip if I chipped out the skill gain.

knifefighter(hit) 29.21 -> 30.58
knifefighter(dmg) 36.05 -> 37.05

light melee weapons 1624 -> 1737 (0.77)
shortblades 2884 -> 3152 (7.52)
martial arts 840 -> 990 (0.78)
melee combat 2596 -> 2701 (1.59)
inflict melee damage 694 -> 883 (0.62)
melee damage assessment 2344 -> 2449 (1.64)


and the dodger skills

dodge pro standing 27.21 -> 27.44

avoidance 2923 -> 2925 (0.06)
dodge 1028 -> 1095 (0.40)

I tested with a Kesmek Slo (L) on Atrax Beach. My Slo did not decay on carcass and decay being close to 10 pec it should not be a question of decimal not displayed.

I'm playing in 1st person mode, could that have any impact ?

It shouldn't make a difference. Just make sure you close the item window before you check it again - or the value will not update.

I've corrected that error. The red is just to highlight the figure that I think is most important to the test

It had me wondering too a bit, but it seems the brackets indicate a negative value .

Sorry about the confusion It's standard procedure to put negatives in brackets in the UK, at least it has been wherever I worked.

Sadly i'm selling the blade now so can't conclude the test. I suppose I could go and do p5a for as much as i've done with the blade so far but that would be changing the parameters of the original test and I don't like the idea of changing things half way thru a test.

Unfortunatly i gotta get peds from somewhere and i'm not gonna deposit. Hopefully sometime in the future i'll get another blade, maybe with more dam/sec, because I realy liked it and over the time i've had it I made profit

Although my hunting with it prior to this test hasn't been recorded, i did make similar profit before the test started. Considering it has an eco of 4.05 some people may draw the conclusion that melee is better than range - but I wouldn't like to say that myself without more data.
