Question About weapon condition and it's performance

Hi.

Because of my curiosity i've visited MindArk site and found there this:
Quote:
For example, a hunting weapon wears in relation to the number of shots discharged. The wear level is indicated via status information on the screen and can also be noticed by reduced performance in the object. The normal service fee for an active user lies between 0.5 and 1.5 USD per hour.
Interesting is this:

Reduced performance of a weapon depending on it's condition? Is it really? Armor yes (unlimited) but weapon also?

Any thoughts?
Thanx!

PS: Sorry if this topic is already discussed here (didn't do search (my bad)).

If so it would only be on UL items.

What about UL heal tools too?

I think i'll start making regular repairs on my UL weapons/tools just in case.

Avoidance Flower Marksmanship Wounding

being a long time player, I can attest to the possibility that this is true. If I'm out on longer hunts, I miss more and more, and do less and less dmg with UL weapons as they become more broken.

The issues becomes less obviousy though with melee oddly enough..

That being said, I always repair my stuff back to tip top shape. I think MA made the repair terminal default to full because of this...

I have not done any 'serious' tests, but I would think that this is true, especially because it's on Mindark's main site.

You've recognized a mayor thing right here which depends on any item (L or UL) as far as I know...

the lower the condition the lower the usability of the item.

e.g. armor less protection, weapons less firepower and less attacks/min etc.

Hmmmm I can't say for sure if I noticed reduced performance in the past these days I repair to 100% before every hunt/mining session.

I am curious to know at what point it becomes noticeable though. I don't think MA would be giving away the farm if the told us "you will notice performance issues at such and such %"

Maybe performance decreases every 25% reduction in TT except for (L)?

I can shoot 1000 peds of ammo through my ADJ VI and not see any noticeable changes. Maybe its worth testing it to minimum TT

Thats why i always thought the unl (L) guns have such massive TT. So performance doesn't degrade as much after a 500 ped hunt for instance.

Me too. I presume it doesn't apply to L weps (in the same way as L armors maintain full protection down to min condition).

I generally repair all my UL items after each hunt so I guess not many items ever get close to breaking. I have occasionally gone on silly hunts where I've come close to breaking my EK2600, still get full heals and not noticed any change in reload there. Apart from that the only item I regularly break is my A106, never noticed any loss in damage as a result of that...

Well, i guess i'll be testing this with two same unlim weapons (one full tt, second nearly zero tt). Guess it will be opalo since it is the only one unlim gun which is 10/10 for me. For the hit/miss ratio. Maybe tomorrow, maybe some later, and will post results here. Let's see what comes out of it...

This has come up a few times in different guises. I tested low and high tt attachments and found no discernible difference in their performance. As far as weapons themselves go, the way i clear up this one (of many) of MA's little misleading statements to my satisfaction is to consider how negatively such a mechanism would affect melee users vs. firearm users. Melee users are going to typically break one or more weapons every single hunt, while firearms need not get below 50% condition at any time. If the statement was taken at face value, it would be very unbalanced in practice.

The statement can be explained by the observation that a weapon at 3% becomes broken, whereupon its performance is (infinitely) impaired...

I notice a decrease in hit rate over time in long hunts myself, as Red mentioned, both subjectively and when i use a tool to measure actual hits. It has nothing to do with the (almost insignificant) decrease in condition of my weapons and a whole lot to do with my own waning attention and sharpness: i sometimes repair the weapon mid-hunt with the same results.
