im looking to get some input on if these (2B plates) are worthwhile for a noobie hunter (1K handgun using M2100+103) in shogun. looking for all around protection for both creatures and bots. and the 2B seems to be about the top of my price range as im looking to spend no more then 175ped for a full set (im not looking to make shogun uber just better).
also im looking for a bit of a price check as i dont hear much talk about them here. thanks in advance. |

if you are wanting to balance shogun/upgrade it to where you can hunt both in the same then yes 2b would be a good affordable choice
however i find that using an armor specific to the dmg type of what you are hunting at the moment to be better. i use ghost+2a and vigi/pala mix +3b this works well for me paladin is a good in between armor too- kinda like shoguns big brother. i know many who use it for the overall protection. perhaps look into upgrading the armor too. not to say that is my recommendation for right now, but eventually it would make a nice inbetween type armor. as far as price of 2b's i'd expect a full TT set to run around 115 perhaps talk to borg cymru-he seems to have lots of armors/plates most often, or might at least know someone with a set --also if wanting to hunt bigger mobs i recommend maybe an ep40 *affordable with good dmg* or an a104 amp. doing more dmg will help you stay alive. i have many times had my ass handed to me with a TT weapon, and come back with my bigger gun and hardly been hit. and i by no means have anything uber. If you're using that combo, invest instead in some ghost, or gremlin if you can't afford ghost.
THEN get concerned about plates. Those low level plates aren't worth much more than TT (In my opinion, not on the market...you can sell them for something) They can certainly "take the edge off". But so can a gin & tonic. Once you've reached equilibirum on an armor setup, you can add weak plates for giggles or awesome plates for peds. I wouldn't bother atm if you're using shogun or paladin parts. I'd focus more on building skills and getting armor. After that, there's time for luxuries. |

i used shogun for awhile and found distaste in it. I instantly went to ghost. I have found a number of people who swear by paladin. Ghost is a good setup. i use ghost +2a like i said, and i was getting crits from a trox old of about 15. the average hit was 1. i think a specialized armor is still the way to go unless you get paladin and the 2b it. since you are not uber and dont have uber health/stats there is not reason to go to ghost and 5a's or anything high end like that. your health will hold you back. i am at 98 and my health holds me back. because if you have armor that helps you by protecting all but 1, and then an armor pen hits you for 123....it is a waste of time. because there is always a chance you will get a crit against you. I already made my recommendations though. GL

A good rule is: More protection = Higher decay Anyway, I would recommend you get a set of 2a plates for creatures and invest in some 3b sets for bots. Sure, price will be a bit higher for two sets, but the protection will be specialized and higher for the kind of mobs you wish to hunt. |

Do this: Take your best armor combenation, like ghost + 5b plates and take 100 hits, or 10 to keep it simple, from a MOB that does pure "impact" like ambuli... Then repair your armor and plates... Record the cost... Now take just pixie armor and do the same test... La and behold, the repair cost is the same! ![]() The variables that I know of are: 1. Not keeping your armor fully repaired. 2. Taking diferent typed of damage. Hope this helps. Best, jak |
