Unhappy Where is the awesome loot?

I'm looking at the history of EU and the 'cool' uber items that have had a history of dropping. I'm referring to armor, weapons, amps, etc. I was looking at weapons in etropedia (trying to find a more eco combination), and some very nice weapons that I would like to have, havn't dropped in a few VU's, based on Entropedia. The same goes for armor. I was looking at some mobs also, hearing rumor that they drop certain loot, but not in a while.

Am I just unfortunate to have joined EU at a time when animal oils and hides make up 95% of the loot? Don't get me wrong, I've looted some nice L weapons and several armor pieces, I just want to know if there are nice UL weapons to loot these days. Am I seeing a trend? Or is my source of data flawed?

If the info I have is wrong, a pointer in the right direction for mobs that have nice loot would be great .

Thanks

There is a theory, unverified, that is as follows.
The system is balanced/managed to ensure that there are only a certain number if certain items about.
This number might be "X" or it might be "X per Y members (active for more than so many hours per week)" for a given item.
This could mean that if there are already X of the item about, no more will drop.
either/or
This also could mean that if there are already more than X of the item about for every Y active players, no more will drop.

IIRC, recently a rare "Thorio battle mace" was TT'd. Not long after another was looted. This tends to support the "at most X of them" theory, but is not definitive proof.

It is also claimed that recently a improved or adjust FAP dropped. Again this could be because of the "X per Y number or members", or it could be because an unused account was purged of items.

On the other hand, it could just be that the chance of looting them is 1:10,000,000 and the rest was coincidence.

How to loot nice items?
Cross ones fingers, and hope.

I was thinking the exact same thing, based on what I've found searching this forum. There seems to be a balance. However, if there are more people coming online, wouldn't they add to the pool 'more' items? It's in you're posted theory, but I've never seen it in practice. Then again, I've been here a very short while compared to most. It seems quite a challenge for someone wanting to advance in the game if they have to spend tt + XXX,XXXped to compete with existing ubers atm. I want to move up, but I'd either have to hit the jackpot (IRL or EU) or get a higher paying job .

Thanks for your ideas

Unfortunately, EU has lost a lot of players also...

all the awesome loot is locked in MA's toy chest, only to come out 1 piece at a time once a year.

The balancing manager is not human, he is the cousin to WOPR pictured above.

In the early days some of the most "awesome" items dropped in great numbers, so much so that they were regarded as TT food.

It's posted in some threads that Mod-Faps, that now sell for TT+300k+, were such common items that they were regarded thus. (believe this or not as you wish, the idea holds true, even if it is not actually true for this item.)

Their failure to drop now is explained in the following manner: Now MA want one mod-FAP per 100,000 active players/members, and there are 50 mod-FAP, and 100,000 active members. (figures invented to demonstrate point). Hence it will be a long time before the system will allow another to drop, even if some are liquidated.
