I think we also have something i call 'The Storage Bonus'
One thing i have noticed from a large portion of depositing hunters (myself included) is the way we use our deposits. We make our budgeted deposit and normally that will go straight through the gun.Oils and ammo will be immediately recycled back through the weapon but all other items tend to go into storage waiting to build into sellable amounts or till the prices rise. You`re getting by on your deposits so you dont have to clean out storage too often. Then a couple months down the track when its time for a storage sell out you all of a sudden realise you have 20k worth of crap in there. Now for myself personally i would have real problems deciding to deposit $2,000 all at once to buy a virtual gun but I`d think nothing of spending the 20k ped i have in storage do exactly the same thing. Some people would tell you also that is probably the smarter thing to do with those 'storage' peds if you`re still getting by happily on your deposits. just another factor in the whole deal. |

Lol!
I guess it helps to be a bit crazy, but I don't think it goes much further than that. We love being involved with a community like Entropia, and so we pay for it. It's not THAT different for paying to be a member of a club, or subscribing to WOW, or buying new games on your playstation every now and then, or hiring DVDs, or buying books, or any of the other things we spend money on in our life. It's entertainment and we're prepared to pay for it. As far as investments are concerned, it depends how far you want to go. A block of land is only worth money because someone is prepared to give you money for it. As soon as nobody wants to give you money for it, it's lost all value. What we're all banking on is that over time, people will be prepared to pay more and more for the things we're buying. As far as I'm concerned, there's really no difference between RL and EU as far as that principle goes. Any investment needs to be looked at on its own merits, and if it's a good deal it's a good deal. If it's a problem that can be solved and thereby creates value, then it's a good deal. But no, I'm not completely sane ![]() |

Do you really think people would be asking as much for ML-35s and paying as much for them if there were enough to go around? (that is just one example of many) I remember when Atrax would drop ML-35s occasionally and they price never seemed to rise above 2.5K until MA tighten the drop rate. While I do admit everyone has their part to play in the pricing of items I really don't think inflation is just some accidental by-product of MA balancing they don't bother to even care about or foster along. It makes them money so they will continue to go with what works until it stops being beneficial to their business. I can't blame MA for doing it since they want to keep EU successful and competitive but I don't think by any means are they not aware of everything that goes on in EU even if they try to make it seem like they don't. The crazy part of all this would be people who are blissfully unaware that things like this have happened, are happening, and will happen again. |

Crazy? Maybe.
But the people I really think are crazy are those who go out and spent $100 on a night of drinking. Not difficult to do really. Then the next morning all they have are some blurry memories and maybe a bit of a headache. But someone who spends that same Friday night in Entropia with $100 might wake up much richer on Saturday. Hopefully they at least purchased an item that can be used for many weekends to come. |
