haha yeah, we had a REALLY fun 35 pedder beacon that time, most of the soc died multiple times getting there because of the birds then we get knocked down to 4 shooters after the first two levels. Every few minutes all u could hear on Teamspeak was "watch your crossfire!!!"

Yeah, it seems that the robot beacon 'levels' sit above the main world, far up into the sky where it's off radar to everyone else. Saw this a few nights ago:

Shows the transponder unit hovering in mid air. I assume it's designed to be invisible until the ship arrives to cover it. If that's the case then the ship arrival areas are definitely pre-determined.

That would make sense , hence only 1 team can do a beacon from the same spot at the same time...I have also seen the ship return to the same spot when you don't die at the end of the mission.

Correct - if you are the bottom level of the ship when it blows up, you are delivered back to the starting point and get to see the shuttle fly off again.

yes, the point I was trying to make is the ship is always there sort of ( normally invisible)

That also explains why the nav console dissapears after the beacon is inserted.
