Mayhem vs. old landgrab method - your thoughts?

This question is for those players who were involved in the previous landgrabs.

Looking at the Mayhem event as MAs new version of landgrab makes for an interesting comparison. In both cases, teamwork and tactics seems to be vitally important. In both cases, you could wind up owning an LA if you're good enough. (Yes I know the landgrab LAs were only "owned" for 6 months, but still...)

So, for those who've done both the old landgrabs and the Mayhem please report the pros and cons of both that you see. I'm curious about your views.

Having been in a few LGs and having won a few LAs as a result, I can say I liked the Land Grab more than this event, but then again, the Lang grabs were a totally different style of event, and I do not thing this event is meant to replace the LGs....

If some guys in the past had not totally screwed up the Lang Grabs we had, we would still be having them.... You got to love those small handful of guys that mess things up for the rest of us

But on a deferent note.... This event definitely could have been better organized, and you can read many things on the forums of late how that is

Well, the landgrab was mostly for uber societies. I mean, could my soc even stand a chance against Warants or cK? I highly doubt it. It's a real nice event for those who stand a chance, but besides that, it leaves about 95% of the other participants to dry in the hot Calypsian sun.

The mayhem event is as close to fair for everybody as it will get. If you are willing to put in the time and effort towards an event, then you have just as much chance as the next player (or close to it anyways). I think more events like this one will come in the future and that's the type of event MA should focus on. Small events with some small rewards. I don't see why MA has to give away such big rewards. Make an event for a weekend, or a friday night.

In my opinion, i rather an event like Merry Mayhem compared to an event like the landgrab. But like Jak said, i highly doubt MA introduced Merry Mayhem as a replacement to the landgrab.
