MA won't let me take a disciple :(

Months ago, august 31st, I filled a support case to get rid of my deadbeat mentor (Kayra Kayra Dragoon), whom I haven't seen since the first day ingame... asking to get her deleted from me.

They told me to come back when I had the skills for grad.

I have the skills, so I went back.

Now, they tell me to wait another friggin two weeks.... WTH... I focussed on graduating, because I felt like becoming a mentor. Now, basically, they are telling me not to, just so that bloody leach can claim a present for not doing anything at all....

Did they change the system? As long as I remember, you didnt have to have your own discipleship finished yet, but you did have to have a given amount of skills to have your own disciples.

After the 2 weeks, if your mentor did not release you yet, your mentor WILL NOT get the mentor gift, because MA will kick the person as your mentor without rewarding them.

Sometimes this can be bad for the deciple, because some mentors (like me) gives the gift to their deciple, because it is the deciple that did all the work in the end anyway!

As for you becoming a mentor...

You dont need to complete your graduation before you can take deciples, you just have to invite them and they just have to accept you

on another note:

Maby your mentor has some real life issues that he or she needs to sort out and that maby is keeping them busy? Maby he or she is dead? Maby he or she has internet problems?

there are alot of things that could have happend and to call the person names without knowing the details is really not nice.

i know you are frustrated at the present time, but just hang in there!

In the end MA is fair when it comes to the mentor system. (the loot is a different story)

I tried to do that earlier, but it wouldn't let me, will have another look at it.

But what pisses me off most, is that MA is basically supporting the people who just get disciples, then don't do anything, and a few months later come and claim the reward. They have actually mailed the guy to come pick up his gift...

And Snipe: I don't really care about the details, I know enough from the behaviour (random invite, not much help -not even the first day-, mentor wanted to borrow PEDs from me on day 1 as well).

I know, they do email the mentors, thats how my mentor knew that i graduated. I had the same problem with my mentor.



What error message do you get when you want to invite someone?

Maby the people already has a mentor or are to skilled to have one?


The reason why i ask is that my deciple has deciples of his own and he is on 70%, so somewhere you must be doing something wrong or my deciple lied to me...

I hear this so often, in fact I think hear this more often than I hear of people passing the descipleship.

Out of curiosity, on day 1 when it became obvious you had a douche bag as a mentor, why didnt you kick him?

Because, like all pro leaches, he made certain he only became a "douchebag" (as you call it), after I couldn't kick him... either that, or I gave him the benefit of the doubt... dunno

The Mentoring program disregards if he has been a good or bad Mentor. The rules for how the system work is the same regardless.

And, if you are correct then he will probably not log on to release you and therefore he will not get a gift. Either way your problem is solved in two weeks.

In the end, its not so easy to do!




if i can reflect back on my mentor:

He gave me a MF-102 and 10 PED of probes... walked with me for around 5 probes and then he left... my SOC taught me how to extract the claim. Those 5 probes are the only thing we ever did together (that sounds weird... i know)

When my mentor did log in, he would always say "shees, you havent graduated yet, hurry up dammit, im waiting just for you before i quit"... even when i told him i cannot deposit, thats why its going slow, he still only had something bad to say.

Then one day i got a PM that said that he is quiting EU, but he is not going to kick me and he will be back in a couple of months to see how im doing.

Well... i graduated... waited a week and then emailed MA about it... they emailed him and he logged on to get his gift, that nite his comment to me was "finally you graduate and now after all these months i get such a crappy mentor gift".

in the end if it wasnt for my SOC, i would have quit EU. All i did was get over it and move on, because that is in fact all you can do.


I think personally that people have to high expectations of the mentoring system, thats why they get let down...

Besides, the girft will only be worth around 1 or 2 PED, that is if he can actually get it sold.... excep if he gets something amazing, but that is highly unlikely...

i Wonder how many threads there is about good/bad mentorship...
From what i see ingame theese days ppl seems to think good mentorship is when they get stuff from their mentors wich cant be more wrong.
I always will think that a good mentor is a person with good ingame knowledge that is online alot and always answer their disiples questions no matter how stupid they may seem and help them discover new places and tps.
"Buying" disiples is among the lamest shit ive heard, trust me all noobies, if a guy promise u stuff 4 mentorship hes probably NOT a good mentor.
I can randomly give my disiples some stuff 2 but i never promise them anything at all.

There is no way for MA to decide if a mentor is good or bad.
2 weeks grace period is a tough limit if someone for example is on vacation
and the disciple in question maybe is an arse who knows this and claims towards MA that his mentor is not letting him graduate.

The complete mentor system is flawed the way it is and has to be completely revised.

Some ideas to automatically examine the mentor<->disciple bonding:
- disciple is in mentors society: all fine
- disciple was in a team with mentor within the last 2 weeks: all fine
- disciple was in a chat with mentor within the last 2 weeks: all fine
- disciple filed no harassment report about the mentor: all fine
- if nothing is fine: send email to mentor
- if mentor does not react after two weeks: give disciple the kick mentor back at mentor info

If anyone wants to complete the list and/or has other ideas do so and make a wishlist from that...
