Just fyi, you no longer get banned in wow for botting, you do get e temp ban though. Atleast that's the latest i heard from my friends who play wow. So not that many banned accounts.

But for MA to make the statement that they are about to contest them just made me chuckle.. good luck MA

I'm in this other game, too, on a German Server. A PvE-Server, and even a RolePlaying one - the most sparsely used type of servers. And my server is even one of the younger ones, by far not fully filled. But whenever I'm entering one of the main capitals, what time ever, there are more ppl around then I have ever seen together in EU ... And, really, I have yet to find a german gold farmer ;-)))

We all know both of these numbers (10 millions WoW and 500K EU) are pure marketing lies and don't have any meaning; but "is already positioned to challenge the dominance of market leader World of Warcraft" - this is the best joke I've seen in ages Even for MA, the grand masters of megalomania as we know them.

Exactly. Because if they do not, they may start their ambitious projects just to realize nobody is left to enjoy it. It's the gameplay that keeps the current participants, and judging by the usual empty ghost malls and the alarmingly low number of players I see whenever coming to Twin Peaks (or any other once well visited place) it doesn't work well at the moment.

The switch to CryEngine2 has the potential to further decrease the number of participants (due to drastically higher hardware requirements) if not very well done, and if we have a look how well they have done with the Gamebryo engine there's no reason to be optimistic, IMHO.

My pessimistic opinion about this all is that it is in the book. We might be the beta testers that were used to build, test and stabilize the EU, and happily payed for it, enabling MA to set up a system over a long time without the need of big investment. MA might now pull the switch completely changing from an adventurous SciFi game to a VR Sales Platform - the recent announcements and actions IMHO speak rather clearly.

Positive about this might be that, maybe, we might be able to survive in some kind of reservation, or leisure park, as an attraction for the shiny new business people populating the Chinese sales planets, the well payed emplyees of these "companies within the media, film, music and gaming industries" and the "Thai workers [...] from remote locations":

Well, I know, I'm very pessimistic, and many of you will see this as another "whining", but todays EU is rather different to the PE I joined 3 years ago, and in the end it is not better, IMHO. I don't know what will come to us, and judging from what is written in the current news I cannot see any bright lines on the horizont. Exept - maybe - I might be able to earn some PED acting as supernumerary in the coming EU movie ... ;-)))

Yawn.....as people have mentioned, more gameplay please. And lol, yeah good luck to get more participants then WoW MA, you are a bunch of funny people. 1 great thing (among many other great things) in ordinary mmorpgs is that they always have something new to offer.

What do we get? Malls, banks, planets that we can shop from, or pic up a gun of youre choice, choose a mob and start klicking and pray for loot....funny as hell.

Yeah let's see, a game which can be played on 8 yo computer, which graphics developed as far as the toad's knee, with tremendous customization of avatar (8 wooping faces wow), in where the comunication is limited to "I pwn u nub", where any 12 yo can signup with the money from mommy for chewing-gum, with the most boring story-line in history, with weekly nerfing, throwing to garbage any investition in skilling and time spent, arrogant support, achievements IRL exactly 0 and blabla bla.

Gime a freaking break with WoW, EU is challenging that position.

How many players you know sticking to WoW with same character for more than 1 year and what exactly incentive to play the game you have after say 6 months?

EU will probably never reach WoW's player base, because while EU targets players with viable personal income, respectively employees, >20 yrs, WoW targets teenagers.

But as capital generated/user and lifetime of an avatar and, at some point in future, even as turnover, EU will challenge WoW. At least because graphic and concepts evolve, while WoW is pretty much stuck in evolution.

When I started I started playing a really cool SciFi MMorpg and now I find myself trapped in a funny virtual overpriced Sims world where I hunt drones and bots to free my planet from evil, where I slash spiders and atrox to survive on my journeys across the planet and where I go to watch a video in new oxford slurping a virtual Coke. I can then go and do some shopping on Planet China and planet Mai Thai and buy some new chop sticks and a holiday ticket ...

I can do nothing but pray that MA woant f*** up this game completely...

If you think it's crazy saying they can take on WoW by the playerbase size I wonder if you have seen their numbers?

MA is expecting (according to what I read somewhere):
150M accounts within a few years.
6M players online at the same time.

Yeah, and half of thoose gonna be asian players that just logs in to by something from one of the shoppingplanets, and then logs of and goes an play a real game with actual gameplay! You should know by know that what MA says and the thruth, is 2 complitley different matters.
