Mac, this is no different than any other lg. I agree, weekend would be better for a lot of people but I dont think you can be mad at MA for you investing a lot of cash only for them to replay what has been done in the past. if you were hanging your hat on hopes that it would work around your schedule...that was a bad decision on your part.

And ok if the different phases are on different times on different days that makes more sence, thx for clearing that up. The way i read it was that phases follow each other from wednesday morning through wednesday until done.
Still no answer on why basically no notice at all?

Id like to change subject and ask (maybe MA), howcome its possible for a soc to take over more than one Landarea during this LG?

It seems to me that this rule:

A single society may only claim one land area at a time. A single society may own an unlimited number of land areas.

..is a bit strange, since any strong soc then can divide their troops making sure noone but the absolute top socs will ever get a chance. A strong soc cant claim more than 1 area, but they can certainly obstruct others. A single player from any of the top50 could (blindfolded) wipe out my entire soc of 15 medium-skilled avatars.

The fact that other phases come later with new Landgrabs even make this question bigger..

i guess MA are not sure at all server can handel LG.specially with the insane shit lag we had since the problem before VU 8.1 , that still not fix.
so they make it a shit day at crap time to had the less player as possible and count how many down they get.

if they got less then 20 server down in the 4 hour , then mabe we get a phase 2 in week day but better our.
and if there less then 30 down , we will get it during a saturday night...

Solaris, it might be possible for one soc to get more Land cause of more phases allows more socs for more land, although i dont know if 1 soc can do 1 land area more than once on a only one phase

The LG consists of phases, each phase will be on different days, at different times - if you have problem making it to one phase, maybe the next one will be better. Once one phase is finished, the next one will be announced.

If you could please clear up a few questions/thoughts it would be superb. I understand that you are the public relations representative of MindArk. In most ways you are doing a terrific job. The public must understand why our concerns are unheeded in such topics as LG, and frankly, the majority of players do NOT understand why LG comes in the middle of week and with such short notice.

I'm sure there is some reason that we're missing as to why it must be announced so close to the actual date, but without actually working for MindArk, we can only assume that it is due to negligence or poor planning on the part of MA. I'd be inclined to guess it is more likely because MA likes their weekends off for family time, traveling, and seeing the rest of the world that the good lord has blessed us with.

I know that many people said that late night for 1 person is early morning/midday for another. I also know that some people work weekends and others work during the week. Finding a time/day that is suitable for all is impossible; however, it would stand to reason that THE MAJORITY of players would prefer weekends and a bit later in the day. Do some thinking, west coast in USA = 12 a.m. start for LG. East coast in USA = 3 a.m. start for LG. UK = 8 a.m. start for LG. Sweden 9 a.m. start for LG. Oh wait, Australia = ~ 5 p.m.!! So I guess that this round of LG is for Deathifier and like 10 other people that play PE! (If he's out of class by then that is ).

It should be relatively evident that USA players will have great difficulty in playing 4 hour LG starting in middle of night. It should also be evident that the ones in Europe are not even fully awake at 8/9 a.m. and would likely have to work that day. I know that LG has often been in middle of week, so people will say don't whine about it. Well, if so many people have always whined about it, why is it still like that? I also saw that you wrote that other LG phases will come so don't worry about not making this one, but keep in mind that some of the LA's are already spoken for before hand which players have little or no capture. For example, cK says they want 1 land and no one wanting to waste $500 to try to kill Angel/Gem (virtually impossible anyway). This means everyone is fighting for whatever LA's are remaining after the big societies pick theirs. If you release small waves of Lands, it makes it possible for hardly any lower societies to receive lands. I'm not even saying this because I think my society falls into the category of the ones that can't get land, quite the opposite in fact. I'm saying it because I feel that the majority of the populus is more important to PE than just a few of the powerful (such as myself - perhaps).

Another interesting topic: Which LA's are available and which are not? How come the public doesn't know? This one is ok to be unanswered because I can understand that it contributes to the drama of LG, but it is going to make one hell of a confusing lag party at LG. Many people would say it is to reduce lag, but if we don't know which are available, it won't help do that at all .

Finally, I'd really love to hear why we the players were convinced to skill up to meet the requirements of LG in the 1st LG. This requirement is no longer in place for no good reason. Many people feel MA was using it as a ploy to trick the average player into putting in a bit more money . If we are seeing unclearly Marco, please help focus my sight.

I know you are busy Marco, but please try to answer ALL questions that I have posed to you with clarity. I've often noted that for whatever reason (politics/secracy) you've omitted answers to the questions that you have no answer for with absolutely no reference to them. If you can't answer the question just state that you can't answer it.

1) Why such short notice?
2) Why such strange time?
3) Why in phases with no clue of which are available?
4) Why no more requirement for skills?

No one said nor implied that the world revolves around america. By "america" I'm thinking you are meaning "USA". Well my post mentioned all of North and South America, not just USA. In the post you replied to, the person seemed to be implying that he would have to *work* during the LG, which, unless he works in the middle of the night, would mean he is not in "america", he is in Europe. Perhaps your stereotyping of "americans" is the problem.

The major problem is not with the time, it's that it's in the middle of the week. Many will have to play in the middle of the night, in the middle of the week, but perhaps they are lucky, as they can at least play with sleep deprivation, whereas many of those in Europe can't play at all because it is during their work hours. It should be on the weekend when most people can play no matter what time it is. This is a major event and MA should not have a problem with working a couple of weekend days per year.

They will prolly release which lands are available in the first round monday/ early tuesday.

I hold a slightly different view on the ability for socs to get more than one land. As has been stated in previous LG posts, its easy for a lesser skilled soc with many ppl to hang on to a claim, if they can afford lesser tp chips.

To me, LG is the epitome of everything we have accomplished in the preceeding year. It gives us reason to skill, get equipped, and get more skill. With every new hp , the thought "Sweet, now I might be able to take two hits at LG before I can fap. I better keep skilling up" takes over, and its quite a powerful thought. LG in its original form was made for the uber socs, that is clear. MA really dumbed it down last LG when they took away requirements (which I also think should still exist) and released almost all of them in the second phase.

I had no probs with LG being for the ubers and the pk-skilled; It gives a player something to strive for in the coming months, so that he/she will be able to fight alongside the players that they idolize.

If a given society is skilled and powerful enough to hold a claim, while resetting opponents claims, then so be it IMO. And I am not dowing the lesser skilled portion of the community at all; Im just saying, if you know you will have little or no shot at land, approach the leaders of the society that you admire most, and ask if you can come along and "help out". You would be suprised how this will help your career opportunities
