That totally depends on how good you are at using and targeting them, there are firms that can do this for you to maximize it as well.

So i would suggest google ads, and also on youtube and such sites as there are a lot of ppl viewing those websites every day.

Id say it depends very much on which target groups yours aiming for. Yes the usual MMORPG pages but maybe also financial, economical sites. And why not universities etc ( althought it might be controversial).

I guess hiring a company that are experts in customer survery is the best way to start, i know from own experience you will be very suprised on the outcome, its usually not at all like you think. It would give a good estimate on what the current playerbase is build up of, and also put some light on which focus on new potential customer groups to take.

I think once CE2 is implemented another movie would be in order for EU. Advertising on cable channels like G4 would work well but they seem to push SL more and console gaming as well. Work a deal out with Massive to show the new render in other venues.

Not sure if it would generate more participants but having a YouTube go viral might be a way to get cheap advertising.

Overall most people who would be interested in EU and probably willing to deposit will be older and well educated. So I would say don't push the usual EU hype and make any type of advertising focus on the strengths of EU. Since EU deals with real money being credible, stable, and secure should be at the fore front of any advertising to immediately put new people at ease.

EU is world wide now and with CE2, CKI, and CRD it has potential to get even bigger. Its paramount that no matter if you are in the North/South America, Australia, China, Europe, or Africa that the level of service and response is the same. MA needs to cater to a worldwide audience 24/7 and advertising it that way and actually following through with it brings more credibility and strength to Mindark and EU.

So no matter where and how EU is advertised, I think Mindark needs to come across as the company that cares about it participants and that caring needs to show through no matter how big EU gets.

That will be hard to do but I think it will be the formula to success if done right and advertised as such.

don't have read much before this post, but I'd say:

- don't advertise on gaming sites

- advertise on poker sites, roulette sites etc.

You might have better returns.

Well, not knowing where MA are taking this thing of theirs I'd at least wait until CryEngine is adopted and the next phase of EU begins and decide who is the target audience.

The way things are we seem to be inbetween a 'gamers game' and a 'fashionista thing' hopefully the two worlds will merge pretty well and there will become more of a use for animal oils (yawn!)

Meanwhile, I'm having too much fun playing dress-up, bring on the Luis Vuitton, Prada, and Armani VU...

At first you should start with the offensive way of advertising in the internet and if you do it right, you have a lowcost way so effective, that you wont even need the passive way, which is more dirty net"work".

Example for the offensive way:

When i google Entropia i find you at once, but when i google the keyword "Universe" i find everything but you. So why dont you start a google-add-campaign with adwords.google.com for the keyword "universe". Right now i just find there an add about tennis-rackets and google earth outreach add. This means, beeing clicked on page 1 of such an uncompetetive keyword, will costs you a few cents only, and if you not get clicked that day, well you stand there all day long for free, and i bet the keyword "universe" is googled many hundreds maybe thousands of times every day worldwide.
(Besides youre not only on page 1, but on all following pages too, if you want)

Find 100 unrivaled keywords related to EU and you will reach many million ppl. all over the world for some hundred Dollars a month. Additionally, "ppl tend to not click adds" means lower costs for you, but the effect will persist because in case of interest they will google you again a few days later with a 50/50 chance of using the right keyword, which is "Entropia" not "Universe", so you dont have to pay for that click.
A sideeffect of that method is that you will "gain pages" with your Entropia-website on the searchlists of these keywords too and when you once reach page 1, advertisement can be reduced or ended.


I bet you know how adsense works, if not check the bottom box of this very site and click the "adds by google"-icon. There is an additional option in adwords where you can unlock your adwords campaign to adsense too, so it wont be you finding a site you put your banner on, but admins will contact you and ask if they may put your banner on their sites. Of course you have to pay them for this for a certain pay-per-click-rate depending on size of your link/banner and the daily clicks the site receives, so you have to choose wisely. But fact is, this way you use to get serious offers for your banner on pages from all over the world.

Too bad you had to read a zillion posts first, before you read mine, cause it makes the whole topic somehow obsolete.

I hope you know better than us what a "typical" EU player is.

If we look at me I doubt I had seen an banner on a gamer site, poker site or at a videocard manufacturer. If you look for mature people with a steady income I would go for TV or banners on news sites, that's where I should have seen it. To get most out of news site banners use "Timed banners, that only show during peak hours or when you think your target customer visits.
Or on the cover of a magazine at the news stand. Put the game on a CD after you got the next VU stable. It will be old in a month or so, but it will make it much easier for people to try.
Or at an air port, maybe a banner on a travel site. A place where common people spend money or lool for a way to spend.
If I saw your fancy show room at Copenhagen air port or at Heathrow, Hannofer or another bissy hub I would for sure visit you and if you handed out a CD for me to install when I come home, you got me and my money.
