Where would you advertise?

I haven't read all these posts, but i'd think somewhere thats not necessarily all about computers or gaming. Something like rolling stone magazine tech section. Even in the magazine if the budget permits. It would reach a whole new audience i think.

IMO a goot start would be to get soem ads in some pc magazines

and also invite some of their testers to come play the game for a month an do a review of it.

i know the game aint new but it will be to loads more people.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned (20 pages are to much to read), but something like a referrer program would be nice. One could embed it in its signature and get some PECs for every new account that is longer active than a week.
Or let'S do some viral marketing
Sticking some ads in RL worldwide, leaving flyers everywhere

Or try to get the same investor which are right now leaving SL.
Entropia surely is the future, the ability to buy my Mercedes ingame, do a testdrive and see it in full detail would be amazing. Or virtual shopping malls, insurance companies, flight booking....possibilities are endless

Or try to get some people from schools and universities to do some teaching and giving lectures...

Sounds better. To sad, that this was the main idea 6 years ago (during/before the CoT), but as i see MindArk failed to find a investor stupid enough to invest in this game made by this shady company.

If could get it, nice. But i doubt. PE already didn't had a good reputation in 2003 nor does it do today, so hard to find investors who pay big money for some ingame advertisements of their products (beside that, SL was cheaper and many jumped because not enough people visited their online presences).

You're kidding? We don't need to addict even more mindless kids into this gamblnig addiction.

This is something that's possible in Second Life, due to the fact that you can create your own stuff and you have enough free room for creativity. What the fuck will you teach inside EU? How to burn your money fastest? How to become gambling addicted and blow up 1000s of dollars every year into a game you lose in 95% of all cases?
Only thing you can demonstrate/teach within EU (not counting the two above) is just to demonstrate how easily people are manipuated and driven by empty promise of becoming rich/earn money with it. And that's hardly something that would bring extra money or more people


P.S. Before advertising EU, i'd first fix the game to appeal a wide range of players and not only for the top 100 of the richest people of the world. You won't get many long time players, if the game keeps like this and gets worse with every VU. People don't wanna grind for 8 years to get a mid-level gun without investing taking mortgage on their house for 10.000-50.000$.

I also think free installation DVDs are an awesome idea.. It would also make it a lot easier to show EU to friends, and you don;t have to inform them of the 3+ hour download time.. Just give them the disc, and ask them to pass it on

On a more serious note, now there are ingame adverts available to outside companies, i`m sure there are opportunities to be had and mutual agreememnts to be made between Mindark and other big business. Just got to wait for the right one to buy the advertising idea ingame, then move Mindark in with their product

First of all this "eu is gambling" point of view have been old news now for a very long time. If you see it as gambling, fine. But do not mistake your opinion with laws regarding definition of gambling or not. I think MA's lawyer has that pretty much under control, don't you?

As for what to teach in EU, well everything from some socialstudies, how people interact in a "microsociety" to pretty complex economics I would say...
Hell, we even got a school in here, haven't we? The swedish one that bought /will buy a la. Don't remember right now
