As has been said previously in this thead, EU uses an older version of the engine currently in use. They could upgrade to the newer version, or go with another (better) engine. I think they made the right choice.

I just hope they program an UBER-LOW graphics setting, I'm afraid at least 70% of the current EU players can hardly cope with now, let alone with an engine that requires 256+MB of graphics memory and for superb quality even a directx10 card (Vista only).
I hope all those people have deep pockets filled with money to upgrade their rig. Now I can't really be bothered, I think that engine is great to work on, plus I have more than enough hardware to support to the fullest. |

Very cool.
This could actually get me to start playing this game again. Btw, will there be a 100% transfer? I mean, is it even practically possible to remodel everything, every item, every mob, every zone. Just think if they in mid work decide that its better to start clean with like "Entropia 2" ![]() |

I haven't read the whole thread and i'm not sure it's been posed but this gives you some idea to what you'd need for the next engine.
http://www.incrysis.com/wiki/index.p...m_Requirements Crysis is the first game to use the cryengine 2 and since eu won't come as close this link gives you basically the recommended specs to run eu smoothly |

The current DX10 cards are not even able to run crisis or other DX10 games on full detail.
And that are only single player games. everything in this graphics will lagg as hell especially in PA and Twins. Furthermore I doubt day-night cicle will be a good choice for things that cost money, and you can have such a good detailed vegetation but if the mobs are just running through them like ghosts, it has no improvements. How will this co-exist with the current engine? will players be able to choose what engine will be used? Players with low budget hardware will never be able to run this, even on lowest settings (and that would look worse than it looks now) I bet the destroyable vegetation will not be used, nor the day-night cicle. because then you will have sort of advantage and disadvantage in certain periods. these engines are great for singleplayer expiriences but not for mmorpgs with real cash to loose. It looks nice, but I have yet to see how this will work in EU... |

Most of the time the single player versions of games are more demanding on the video card and the system because of movies animations scripting ect that are not in the mp mode of play. Crysis has both a MP and SP mode of play. I highly doubt that you’re going to see a game with a choice of engines. But many games will allow you to run them in either DX7 or dx9. The ability to run the game in a couple of different DX modes could be helpful. Many people here are confusing the issue by making comparisons of features on a game that runs the crysis engine, and assuming those features are to be implemented into EU. Crysis the game is a completely different animal than EU. The min and recommend specs for Crysis can give you a good idea on what type of system will run EU best, but that’s about as far as it goes. A world with true day night cycles and an environment which is modified by players are 2 things we most likely will not see in a world as big as an mmo for quite some time. There is a lot of doom and gloom about this upgrade. If you thought you would be able to use your 1.5 gig pc with a nvidia 5700 forever, its time to wake up and upgrade. If you use an AGP video card- your days are also numbered, integrated grafix?…………..please. ![]() MMO’s have been traditionally less demanding irt pc requirements, some of the new shooters will not run on any card in the 5xxx series, that came about 2 years ago. I highly doubt the requirements for EU on the crisis engine will be the same as crisis the game. It will be DX9 compatible. And any 2 gig system with 1.5 gig of ram and a card above the radeon 9XXX or nvidia 6XXX series will do just fine. |

In line with what rwin said i would like to point out that while a game like World In Conflict runs very well on medium-low settings on my P4 3.0Ghz with a radeon9600, it can bring an Geforce 8800 Ultra and a Core 2 Duo x6800 "down to their knees" on max settings. It will depend on how much scalable the engine is and MA allow it. (we only got resolution changes on Gamebryo recently) On the link Striker Nabi posted, which is a collection of infos about Crysis, it is mentioned that Crytek said that they expected it to run good on 3 years old hardware. So i am hoping it is very scalable and that Crysis (EU i mean ) will run on my hardware (after not being able to run ET:QW, Bioshock and the latest MOH i am starting to get a bit worried )On another note Gamebryo wasn't developed as a MMOG engine, yet i does a fairly good job. |

i must admit though the quirkiness of Eu is rather addicting and would be a shame to lose it but I admit i am a graphics frEAK and cant wait for the new update. i can see how and under stand why people are uneasy/scared about change.. i would say "if it is not broken then don't fix it" but in the is case EU has a lot of bugs that needs ti be sorted.. |
