Armor/Clothing Changes
12 Oct 2007 While the recent inclusion of a 2 PEC value deterioration of clothes and armor when equipping was indeed an attempt to minmize client side lag, it was also a step in improving the clothing system and incorporating it into the overall Entropian economy. The visual deterioration also means that, as with other items, clothes will now need to be maintained in good condition to reap their maximum benefits i.e. appearance. As our universe expands with more and more users, a clothing system that allowed garments to be produced with low condition and have no noticeable difference to garments of high condition, would be an imbalance that would only get bigger the longer it remained. The solution was to allow clothing to deteriorate when used, as they do in reality. These changes also compliment our future plans to increase participant customization of clothes. Amongst other things participants will be able to apply different materials like wool, leather and latex to customizable garments. This will allow talented tailors to compete in a free market with unique high quality clothing. Originally Posted Here |

I still don`t see where the 2 pec decay fee comes in. It`s a turnoff for ppl to wear clothes also this turn off effects tailors as their sale volume will hit rock bottom. Right now we have high resolution avatar textures. What`s gonna happen when they introduce high res mob texture or weapon texture. Extra fees for those also?

Crone just thought it might lead to the same result but more logic to have clothes deteriorate (?) over time instead of when it's put on...
It's not a fee Mikass, it's the cost of using something. |

the "shape" of an item in EU hasn't been related to its condition, except on unL armors so we can expect to see lower weapon performance when they tt become less, especially interesting for L items i guess also with tools, suddenly your 1000m depth finder just manages 100 :P the fap doesnt do 10-20 anymore, it will do 2-4 i dont think that answer is really satisfying tbh ^.- besides, that your L armor decays just from putting on is a weird point itself, huh? take it on and off and it becomes unusable ![]() that clothes in full repair look better is even quite understandable, just the decay isn't it had been a nice idea to reduce the max TT of most clothes from say 130 (master coat) to around 50 and if that item had been repaired, the person gets 80 ped on the card easy solution, problem solved, less ppl unhappy ^^ |

To be honest, I completely understood the whole clothing decay issue(s) (They do need some form of decay, like everything else, explained more below)... but Armor?!?!?!!?
WHY the armor too?!?!?!?! It's plain stupid.... You (MA) OBVIOUSLY have the clothing seperated internally from armor, why can't you just turn off the armor decay, and leave the clothing decay on? On a loooong hunt (like many of us do), we change armors fequently.... each change costs us 14 pec, adding to the overall cost of the hunt. Change 10 times (easily done in less than an hour) and you're out 1.4 ped. Play 10 hours, you're out 14 ped. Play 10 hours a day for a month you're out 420 ped (heh, makes me wonder what MA was thinking when they did this..) . Add this to the overall loss with hunting, and we're screwed. Now, back to the clothing.... Decay of clothing is understandable. However, automatically removing the clothing when putting on armor is not. Decay me by 2 pec each time I put on my clothes, what ever. I don't ever change my clothes. It works out fairly well for me. For others, not so much. If you really wanted to be intelligent about it, put on a timed decay. Each hour/day/whatever you are logged on with clothing, decay it. That makes those (like me) pay as much as those that change clothes every 5 minutes. I realize this could (and probably would) create a huge load on the servers, so, buy a seperate server just for databasing how much time a item has been worn... woooo, you hafta spend a few thousand dollars (from my deposits) to buy it. I hereby authorize you to go ahead and use my deposits to buy a new server. You know I don't 'own' them anyhow.... <sigh> I'm still not hunting (due to the CTD bugs)... I won't be changing clothing/armor until this 2 pec decay issue is further resolved... Have a great day! ![]() ~Red Last edited by Dion Red Strike; 10-12-2007 at 13:02. |

Like the former posters have commented, it's an explanation and in my opinion that does mean a lot.
Still, 2 pecs decay on every armor piece when equiped isn't acceptable. Should WE have to pay for something WE haven't requested? If the community specifically wanted a new armor look and improved avatar graphics it would be completely different. Back with the old graphics and reintegrate the new stuff when it works flawlessly (at least better), so we don't have to pay a constant fee for lag issues. |

And what about armor, what do the clothing system changes have to do with armor having to decay when equipped...? Armor is also changed more often, more likely has more parts than any outfit, and so it decays way more.
Furthermore, it doesn't seem very Entropian that every single shirt, jacket, helmet and harness, each having different TT values decay the exact same amount when equipped? Is it fair that putting on a pixie set costs the same as putting on a supremacy set? Or putting on OJ shirt cost same as putting on a pleat coat? If this decay on clothes has to stay, it could atleast be made so that the highest TT value clothes decay 2pec, and lower TT value clothes decay same % compared to total value. Armor should not decay when equipped. Armor should be possible to be worn over clothes, so that the clothes don't become unequipped because of it. "Just my two pecs"... (this expression just isn't what it used to be) |
