At least tell us somewhat how the system works, so that people who invest more money can gain an edge over those that are simply lucky.

Imagine if MA told everyone how the loot system works. We would still be competing with each other over the same known knowledge and the same loot pool, except those who know more about the game or invested in better equipment would obviously have the better chance at making money. I mean, god forbid that the people who put more money and time into the game should have an advantage over the others...
What you are missing here is that MA is not interested in helping anyone be good at their system. They are here to take your money, the more you know about how it works the less money they can take. If you make money, they lose money. They aren't interested in helping anyone make money but themselves. That is why the system is set up as it is.

Me and many other players who are heavily invested in game but have had horrible luck are all hoping that someday something will change in EU to make our status worthwhile. Right now it doesn't make sense trying for years to get a 40k loot when you can much more easily get four 10k loots in much less time and lose much less money in the process. I would hope that once EU does "boom" and many more players join that they will funnel more loot into the high risk mobs that, as of now, are almost not worth hunting due to what it costs compared to what you could potentially get.

However, as of now, skilling up and dreaming of getting better loot is a big mirage. It's a trap. MA puts little voices in your head telling you that having better equipment and skills will give you better overall loot than you are currently getting. Because of this, newbies to the game try very hard to skill up and obtain better equipment. What they don't realize is that MA funnels most of the loot to lower level mobs (because they are hunted more) so that newer players will stay. Once those newer players are here long enough and have moved onto hunting bigger mobs, they realize that getting better equipment only caused them to lose more than they had before. Too late now though, they are heavily invested and hooked. Sure, they could scale down their hunting and return to hunting small mobs, but it just doesn't make sense. MA gives the idea that big mobs = big loot, which is not true at all, aside from ATHs (which are small these days, in comparison). If an Atrox young can give 10k based on it's HP and cost to kill, how come a Hogglo Mature only yields about 40k max? The risk loss difference is huge, yet the reward potential seems to say that the Atrox is a better choice, especially since the 10k loots are much more frequent. MA made these huge loots from small mobs to get more people hooked, because they know that once you are invested and addicted, you won't leave. If you do in fact leave though, then someone else will come along in your place to drool over the big loots they see and dream of becoming "uber". Like MA stated, all we can do is adapt, or leave. I'll be staying, but I'm hoping there are better times on the road ahead.

Just a thought, I expect footguards to rain from the sky after 9.1 when we need them most and partially unprotected hunters need encouraging to go hunt...brings more money that way too

I'm expecting them to continue to be rather rare, because that will prompt even more hunting as people try to get ones they need, and keep failing, and other people will hunt to get ones they don't need, so they can sell them. MA will make much more by keeping them rare. Plus, once we get to 9.1, if you don't have them there is a better chance of being killed in a hunt, which provides MA even more money.

Or people just stop hunting, or at least stop hunting mobs that require whatever incomplete armor they have, until they can afford to buy a pair.

You say people stay for 6 months, maybe longer in Entropia. So why does the footguard release structure being implemented penalise those who have stayed longest or invested most (i.e. those with the armour which costs the most to aquire on the entropia market). Those who are using pixie and are in their first week have just got a bill of less than a dollar ... those loyal customers who have provided significant income to MA over many years just got hit with a bill of $1000s. Some people stay because they enjoy the game you know rather than the lack of subscription fee so erdoing their gameplay experience by hitting them with a big bill is not imo a good policy. I know full well that you can't influence prices on the open market but you guys know full well that buying shadow costs more than buying pixie.

I agree prices will even out (shadow to alot and pixie to a little) .. but that doesn't change the fact that you have just hit your more loyal and highly invested customers with the biggest cost simply for them to stand still in terms of avatar ability/protection.

Foot guards, no problem ... but I have tried very hard to think why you would introduce them like this and I honestly and simply can't understand the method you are using.
Hi Marco,

So there is no prospect of any change to the current footguards distribution method?

Is this whole community uproar on the armor tax just going to die a sudden death ?
Just because MA decided that they will reduce it ? Does it make it more acceptable ? Stealing something small vs stealing something bigger ?

Marco,

I am delighted to see that have so diligently supplied answers to all the questions raised here.
I am also particularly glad that you looked at all the suggestions in this thread, like only taxing those that actually cause lag by using the new armor hot-key system.
It really shows your dedication to us, your PAYING clients.

I am thrilled with the typical attitude.

May we as users ask what MA is planning to do with all the 1 & 2 pecs we and the other idiots in-game will supply them with ?
If i look at my even more reduced successes in VU 9.0.x, it sure as hell aint going in to the loot-pool.

P.S. What is the average expected hunting time on any specific mob to loot a single pair of foot guards - 2, 5 or 10+ hours ?
Or is there no guarantee that any of us will be able to loot some of the supposedly bountiful guards ?

Concerned depositor
