It's amazing to me how one company can come up with so many good ideas but execute them so poorly.

Yes, we need more events and competitions. No, MA cannot make up for the lack of good events and competitions with ONE competition.

As far as rules go, they probably have no idea what to even make the rules so they just posted the competition to see what the community says about it and how people will participate in it. Then they'll go back and make the rules after the fact once we've dissected the whole thing.

Anyway, like I said, a really good idea but executed horribly. Not that I'm surprised.

Here is why I am not so sad that the LA will go to the most dedicated and die hard player, because that person is more likely to maintain that LA and make it something that will make money, hense have mobs on it that people will come hunt. Would you rather it go to a total noob (no offense noobs) that do not have the money/knowledge/time/experience to run it?

Oh well. Since everyone else is mad about the event, maybe I will hunt a few of the listed mobs, and maybe I will have a chance of winning something since only 3 or 4 people will compete.

I agree... however, one argument against your theory is that if a new player with no cash, wins this land area, he can easily re-sale it and get the cash instead.

True, I think when they said 'anywhere in Calypso', they meant, anywhere in the planet in Calypso. Don't think CND falls unto this category. EDIT: Actually, CND IS included in this event! See ND's post for the details.

Personally, I don't mind seeing an uber win this thing. If they made it that high, then it means that they are dedicated hunters and have the cash to support their hunting addiction. With a new land area, they can become more of a part with EU... it'll be cool to see. However, if for example, Star wins the land area from MMOWC, then I wouldn't want to see him win this one as well!! They should set a cap on how many land areas one single player can win, just to give other ubers an opportunity!!

Anyhow, I'm tempted to compete here, but the time is just crazy. I'm sure there's going to be people playing 17 hours a day and maybe even 24/7 for the ten days!! Don't know.. not sure what to do... got a day to think it over .

Only problem is the ones willing to cheat...
And the fact that a well skilled and equiped players can kill as many mobs in 1-2 hour as the noob in opalo can in the full 240 hours...

These prizes are highly valued ingame. There is obsolutely NO REASON these prizes should be awarded to anyone other than the most dedicated and most committed to winning it. It is that simple. If you want that LA you know what to do. Obviously some will have an advantage over others... but shouldn't that be the case? I see a lot of posts on here about how skills do not matter because noobs get hofs - well here is an event where skills and the use of them will pay off. Use that to kill more effeciently. one of the hardest things for any company to do is see itself from its customers persepective.

i like the "idea" (someone will still die, but its a good idea)

what i fear is that whenever MA plays the game, with mod shadow and unique guns... they dont quite get it.


i like the open sessions, 8-10 hrs each day... not 24/7. i dont think it is unfair as much as unsafe... and im the last person to complain about safety in life.

but i do want to protect my investment in this game- granted i KNOW it is not as large of an investment that many of you have in game... but it is in danger if this event happens.
