Sorry, I actually meant to quote the original proposal, not your reply. I have edited my post.

It would certainly improve your chances, but you would still have no chance.

How can it improve your chances if it still means you have no chance?

I wonder if MA came up with an event that gave away weapons and armour..etc.. to everyone in the game would be shot down too...

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say yes

As it has been said in this topic...this is not all fair and I agree with that...but if I deposit over 5 thousand dollars in say 6 months...and someone joins today should he have the same fairness as I have

If they did...I suspect MA would be broke in under 6 months...as no one would even consider attempting to deposit or actually attempt to take advantage of the possible business of EU..they would simply sit around and wait till another big give away comes along and use it...

anyway this probably makes no sense so shoot it down

Already said before, but from 0 to 0 % chance is no increase...
You could better hire a hacker for that kind of money and let him hack MA for you.

However, these proposals seem to ignore the possibility that the reason Mindark structures an event like this (with very valuable prizes) so that equipment and skills offer an advantage, is that they want to encourage people to invest time and money in their avatar's long-term development.

If all EU events had the types of restrictions proposed here (everyone uses same maxed out gun, equipment etc.) then where is the motivation to improve our avatars, which is the core appeal of EntropiaUniverse in the first place??

One of the central, most fundamentally unique aspects Entropia Universe is, and always has been, the real-cash economy. This is the primary reason we all find it so fun, challenging and immersive. Imposing artificial equalizers and handicaps undermines that core unique aspect in many ways, in my opinion.

I agree that there should be events for all levels of participants, and indeed there are, and have been others in the past. It seems many of those complaining about the "unfairness" of the Merry Mayhem event have totally missed (or are intentionally ignoring) the other MA events announced the same day as this one:

Entropia CES Events

in which players of all skill levels have a very good chance (1 in 50 or so) of winning some very nice prizes.

However, it seems both logical and fair that MA events with the most valuable and desirable prizes should offer at least some advantage for highly skilled/well equipped avatars. And I do not only say this because I happen to be in that category (I am not even competing in the Merry Mayhem event), but because it makes good business sense for Mindark to approach things in this manner, as well as being the fairest approach for the Entropia community as a whole.
I disagree. This kind of event is an extremely sporadic happening. Over the course of a year, the imk2/mm/modfap user still saves so much peds on his hunting compared to the average player, that to say that the occasional event where you have a more level playingfield is "unfair" and undermining the incentive to buy better gear and skills, is just plain silly, and taking the elitist point of view a bit too far imo.

I'm not saying that all events should be that way, there would still be room for the normal "kill eomon/warlocks/trox majestic/whatever, where your ubergear would very much come in handy, but for this kind of event - kill the most mobs in a period of time - the suggested idea sounds absolutely brilliant imo, and would for sure liven things up for the masses, and give them a chance to compete with the gods of EU on a more level playingfield.

I've not read all the last pages of posts, too boring, i just have one thing to say, based on what i've read in the first thread of the event and of the first pages, and like many ppl already stated, there is NO CHANCE to Mindark to do a event or anything that will make every1 happy, it wont NEVER HAPPEN, because there will be always someone whining and complaining.
If we have uber events, blablabla because is only for ubers, if we have low or mid level players event, blablabla because ubers can compete and will win, because they are ubers....
like scammers, resellers, spammers, etc etc, whiners will never end, i use to whine myself sometimes too, but we must have a certain level of understanding on most things, this was a major good step from MA, after all this crappy moves they've done( No lg for more than 1 year, various nerfs, amps, armor, etc etc, silly updates, and more) they finnaly made a good one, not just a uber rare mob release or a silly "event" with no ending, but a event with 3 awsome prizes on damn easy mobs with a decent points rate based on mob hardness.
Ofcourse there could have been some better improvements, like more points depending on maturities, etc etc, but this is a good start, and i really hope MA continues with this kind of events and learn from the last mistakes and continue improving on the right direction.
Let me end with a keysong

Sorry, I have to disagree, and I am for sure no elitist, don't own mod or imp anything. For an event where the prizes are this big, there should be no major leveling of the playing field. The biggest prizes/events should reward the players who have invested a lot. It makes sense and is fair.

However I am not at all opposed to many other events having the playing field leveled more, and I take part in some of those because my chances are better.

Agreed, but once or twice a year it would be in MA's best interest to hold events that are inclusive of the general community and not exclusive. Many events have been held where most average players wouldn't have any possibility of winning and those that have deposited and levelled up over the years certainly do deserve rewards for their efforts, all thats being said is for MA not to forget the mirriads of 'little guys' out there trying their hardest to get up there too. Kudos to MA for this event, it's as close to being fair & inclusive as you can get in my book
