I guess the problem which is driving quite some people mad is that they have (whatever they'll do to try to change that) a chance of exactly zero (0, nada, none, zip, zilch) to ever be able to compete with some of the avatars ingame - because of unreachable skills (after the nerfs) and unreachable equipment (totally unbalanced items with no drops and hence insane prices).

When you look into RL then you'll see that the people running amok (some school shootings for example) are often the ones which realized that they're in a position without a reasonable chance ever.

Since running around and killing people ingame is reserved for Mercury (at least in terms of success of the process) i guess the inner rage about the situation is discharged here in the forum.

I'm also quite sure that many of the unsatisfied here have realized that the Ghandi (no the avatar here) way of dealing with such a situation (stop supporting the guys you don't like) will work best for them in the end.

But since they grew to like this virtual world in which they have spend a good part of their life they make some last (more or less) desperate tries to change things for the better - untill at some point their hope will die completely and they'll leave forever for another world... and maybe burning some land, salting some fields and poisoning some wells while on their way out.

If everyone is really so upset about this you could always buy a LA and hold your own tournament on it (low level players only) and the winner could manage the LA for the next year (manage means they get all profit, can decide what DNA to put on it and so on, but the owner would keep the LA for the next event).

I'm sure as hell happy I didn't even think about competing, since the outcome was again... 100% predictable.

Also on a side note, yes the "ubers" blew through a lot of ped, can't argue there, but they have like 90% chance they will end up winning, thus almost be sure to break even or quadruple their investment.

And, no, I am not an uber, yes, I deposit regular, and no, I did not seriously expect to win the big prizes, but, yes, I did go out and try to rack up some numbers in the contest.

It was fun, and I didn't care whether other folks had a better shot than I did.

I really would like to see the numbers, to see how many total mobs were done in by competitors, and would like to see how I stacked up against the "pros" .

I didnt win and got nowhere near. Great fun though, looted a crap load of ESI (nothing else though which was disappointing) and hunted for free for the last week with gobs of skills on top.

As for the winners, how else did you expect it to go down? If there was no time limit the higher equiped avatars would still have won. Maybe they could have had random drops a la the bot/PoE event, but then people would say thats unfair for those that invest $'000s and some noob gets a LA.
