Hi,
Gratz to Winners (and their herders and support gunners)! And shame to MA for this: - Holding a very time consuming event just during the most significant holidays in western civilization is IMHO a slap in the face for everyone with a life and a family - 6 hours a day, and the more hours of organization isn't something anybody could do that wouldn't completely ignore social duties and risk serious familiar trouble. - An event like this, where the overwhelming part of the EU population has absolute zero chance to win, is IMHO not what we need - further spoon feeding some Ubers might be an incentive to some simple minds to double effort and deposits, but no normal participant these days with a job, a family and some common sense will ever reach the regions to be able to compete. The times these Ubers have reached their Uberness have passed, the possibilities they had aren't available anymore. Only chance would be to burn insane amounts of money - right, this is what MA wants ... - This event was introduced as a single hunter competition - it developed into a contest who could organize most efficient mob herders grabbing trox from far away, support gunners to shoot them down to 52% HP, and FAPpers to keep the heroes alive - wouldn't it have been better to simply make a Soc competition of it? Well, there might have been a nicely filled loot pool during the event (couldn't check, this time of year for me usually belongs to family, not gaming ...) , and at least it wasn't made as the usual lag feast, so we can say MA has learned something. This might be seen as improvement, so a little Gratz to MA, too ;-) Anyway, there would be this much possibilities for MA to have events pleasing more of the participants! Have made some raw proposals here, thread went locked - so I'll repeat: Quote:
Raw ideas, right, and there might be better ideas to improve these. Would very much appreciate Marco would open a thread about events, and a community brainstorming helping to develop. I'm here since late 2005, and I have never ever seen a single event I had been able to participate that hadn't been a pure waste of money. Ok, missed the Robots and the Feffos. But everything else I have seen was massive lag, and mobs this far out of my range ... My over 10K (only in primary weapon skills) make me too much nOOb for this, and I guess a lot lesser skilled players are puking 24/7 - but who cares of them, they're just about 80% of our population ... Have fun! |

I admit I am surprised by human stupidity.
Is normal that ubers to have an advantage, doh. Nomatter how the event would be organized, them would have an advantage. That's the point of skilling up, I find it normal that loyal players have an advantage and not every 2 month old who doesn't know for sure how many tp's are ingame. But the most important issue, and I am surprised nobody thought at it, is that DOA/mm on atrox young = loss. Nomatter what skills, overkill is loss, period. And we speak here on whole event about anything from 3k to 10k loss. And I somehow think that all the whiners around wouldn't want to risk 10k ped but blame the ppl who did. How is that fair? |

To be honest I dont get the complaints about MA putting this contest to Xmas.
Myself I wouldnt have the time. True I wouldnt have a chance anyway but id prolly have time if it wasnt for xmas. The thing is tho I dont pity myself or anyone else who didnt have the time to spend 6 hrs a day during xmas on a pixel-event. So I traded my oppertunity for participating by having a IRL instead, and so did the rest of you that had more important things to do. You could have chosen to prioritize otherwise, and Im sure there was a reason you didnt. But for god sakes dont complain that you cannot participate bc your too busy partying irl. Sheesh. About the event itself, I think there should have been more restictions applied. However I saw what was coming the minute I read the event description. A MM, iMK2, Foeripper or such would win. With help. It was inevedable. - Btw Im not suprised if MA doesnt condemn mod herding and LA booking at all, Id be suprised if they didnt see this as ´creative solutions´ and took it into account when making the event. Other then that I 100% agree with Kerham. *points up* Id still like to see a list of top 50/100 tho. Last edited by Skam; 01-02-2008 at 13:32. |

Gratz to all the winners.
You all managed to Outwit, Outlast, and Outplay. Just out of curiosity I would like to see the top player list but in reality it doesnt matter. I know from my perspective it was quite obvious that only a select amount of avatars would be able to compete in this challenge and their support system, tactics, skills, and equipment would be deciding factors in who ended up being in the top 3. At first I thought maybe I could give it a try and then I started looking at the situation and kind of knew from the onset who would more than likely win. I can kill little trox fairly quick but no where near the rate other more highly skilled avatars with better equipment can. So I pose the same question I ask myself everyday "Is the risk worth the reward?". So I opted out of the event. Now if this was a truely random loot event like the "Robot Secret Transmitter" I would have been slaughtering Exos and Trox for a week straight. I guess that is something MA needs to look at. Sure there were a lot of Trox, Exo, and Mulaak'F killed in this event but no where near the amount that would have been taken down had there been a week long special item(s) loot event. Oh well its done and over with and its a new year with many new things to come. Gratz to the LA owners who had Trox and Exo DNA I am sure they tax take in was a nice Christmas present in an otherwise slow part of the EU season. Gratz to MA since this surely made them a tidy sum in decay in what would have been an otherwise slow part of the season for them also. So I guess when you look at it this event, no matter who had the advantage in it, was geared towards increasing or at least keeping the participation levels the same through a normally slow time of the year in EU while rolling right into CES and MMOWC. But that is just my ![]() |

I was thinking joining this event but then i could "only" be online for 6hours.
I know how hard it is to hunt something for that kind of hours, so i can only say big deserved GRATZ to all the winners. Regards Machinejedi |
