Because MA aren't doing anything with the new planet...it's another company ...so MA can get on with Calypso and finish it.

Why are people trying to find bad in this before it's even finalised and available ingame? Sure if it's bad or bugged when it arrives......by all means trash it and complain, but trashing it based on guesses of what may or may not be coming?

My only real worry about anything about to happen in 2008 is hardware....just watched a pretty state of the art machine struggle like hell with the Cryengine.
Gonna need a new one here for sure. A powerful beastie too.

seriously, I'm not being like MA in that I'm being vague, I just can't recall.

To me, it was cool news, the name of the company though was quite unimportant. The fact that they were going to have more 'employees' was quite cool, and that's all I gave a shit about.

I can tell you a few things I do remember though.

1) The company is huge, they have a few hundred employees.

2) They will be developing their own planet and paying MA for it.

3) Their central headquarters is located (if I recall correclty) in Dubai (sp?).

p.s. It's not sony, microsoft, or blizzard.

Per sources, travel will be allowed between planets almost immediately...(well in MA's sense of the word immediate)

Ding ding...we have a winner. This announcement was to have been of the company that will be developing the planet actually assisting in the coding of the planet that the MA crytek engine will run. This is not the Chineese planets which again sources say will number between 8 and 9 seperate planets. Some of the chineese planets will be for education, some will be for commerce etc.... Think of ninja jackets at New Oxford maybe as a beta test for how some of these new chineese planets may work.

yes and no...the new planet that "was" going to be annouced will be built entirely on the new engine, however its possible that some of the chineese content will be available before the engine, im a little fuzzy on that tho.

I had the opportunity to talk for about an hour to the company reps that are designing this new non-chineese planet. They were very open with concepts and possibilities, but were not ready to discuss specifics about the new planet. The company is more of an engineering firm than a game development firm. Per the reps, the planet will have ores, enmatters, mobs, etc.... Items from this planet will be similar...maybe like lyst and oil and exo's, but it will also have unique items only available on this planet.

They have a very aggressive time frame for pushing out there new content of it being available before end of 2008. My belief is that the planet will be available, however all functions/resources/areas of this planet will not necessarily be open...think Amethera.

MA asked that we dont leak the name of the company, and the reps did not disclose it, however Im sure some of the more creative folks in our little kingdom of players will be able to figure it out.
