Re-read the entire block of text. It doesn't say only US residents can use the service. It says that if you're no a US resident, and some part of the service is illegal where you live, it's your problem, not theirs.

Frank, I think I, and most of the EF users browsing this thread, would like to know how participants are being selected. Having hundreds, if not thousands, of users signing up, just to see a few dozen get selected, would most likely create some negative sentiments among those left out.

(I'm not trying to be overly negative, but honestly, this has the potential to create a lot of resentment in the community.)

Also...

What I think is a lot worse then some disappointed users,

a random selection makes it quite probable that a big part of the ones actually selected is mostly there for a chance on the price, and won't really ask the really interesting questions...

I'd much rather see a Q&A without any prices given out... And focusing on quality of questions and answers.

Can't really see the point of givning out prices, except maybe that XFire was disappointed with the number of EU users actually signing up for their product... (Which also explain the bad information about only a few people being selected.. After signing up...)

Underhanded marketing like this really gets on my nerves...

4 times in one paragraph it tells me I have to be a US resident and then states IF you chose followed again by if you are not then stop using it....do you think this should really give me confidence in using this site?

Those of you who know me ingame or on EF would know I am not a flamer and am not abusive but......how many times do I need to be told that I dont fit the criteria before realising I DONT FIT THE CRITERIA!!

Well I'd like to take this moment to tell anyone who is thinking of joining x-fire because of this that there is an xfire "clan" for entropians you might like to join. We're all in it and its a nice way for the xfire lot to find each other etc.

There is some discussion also about getting entropia into the top 10 mmogs on the xfire stats page.

So far Entropia players are racking up around 2000 hours a day logged through xfire. If they can get over 6k approximately this gives them a fighting chance at the tenth spot.

it's legal CYA statements. It's so if your government, for whatever reason, decided that part of their service violates a law, they can't be held accountable, but you can.

To be honest if you are going to worry about something regarding xfire I think you'd do FAR better to worry about all that data they log on you and your playing patterns.

There is a big document about their policys but I couldn't face reading it all yet to find out a) how they make their cash and b) what they do with their data

By saying that it's ok to use, even though you don't fit the requirements is, by deffinition, disagreeing - therefore your required to cease using the service.

Sure I understand it might be viewed as just covering their arse, but they've done it too restrictively. There choice to block use by OTT legal wording, does not give us a precedent to interpret what they might of meant.

I'm not touching X-Fire until they publish a revised EULA, this isn't really hard to do and I'm suprised to see such a shody attempt. It's basically saying the same thing multiple times, which is not the basis for a good legal document. As we've proven it's ambiguous.
