Sweating experiment:
Does the Mob type or maturity affect the chance of success at sweating? Outline: Although I am not an experienced sweater I have on occasions made to observation that it appears to be easier to gain a successful sweat pull from some mob types than others, particularly in the fields around Port Atlantis I find Exas to be easier than Combibos as targets for sweating. The aim of this little investigation is to see if I can find reliable data to back this qualitative observation. Reliable data on this topic can help to inform mentors and other helpers of new arrivals to identify the best targets for the new players to sweat, increasing their time efficiency and perhaps their enjoyment of the game a little. Method: I will choose several basic sweat mobs and attempt 100 sweat pulls on each mob type. I will record if each pull was successful or not. The exact amount of sweat gained in a successful pull will not be recorded as it is unnecessary to answer the present question and will significantly increase the recording time during the experiment and so costs for the experiment through healing unnecessary damage. Any pulls that return a ‘dry’ message will not be recorded and will not count towards the 100 attempted pulls on that mob type. As far as possible I will sweat around the Port Atlantis – Swamp Camp area, initially choosing mobs that are common in that area. Results: (to be added to as I gain more data) Combibo Young 19% success rate from 100 attempted pulls Daikiba Young 17% success rate from 100 attempted pulls Berry Young 19% success rate from 100 attempted pulls Daikiba Mature (partial run) 14% success rate from 43 attempted pulls Exa Young 14% success rate from 100 attempted pulls (11 bottle/success) Conclusions: None yet as data set not completed. If you wish to help enlarge this data set feel free to post any results gained using the method above in this thread. Also please include your Sweat Gatherer professional standing (my own is level 4) as this could be another variable that affects the chance of success. Last edited by Squiglet; 03-28-2008 at 16:24. |

It won't make any difference. You'll get average 20% success rate on everything. 100 attempts isn't enough of a sample though, so you'll probably get some fairly large variation. 500 attempts on each mob would be a better test. But a test isn't required

Looks like your prediction is right, although I would argue testing is always necessaey ![]() As for sample size, you are right the bigger the better but there is only so much sweating I can take before I start to go ![]() Out of interest where has your 20% figure come from? Is it affected by skills? |

![]() From previous testing. It showed that you always average out at 20%, and that there's a random distribution between 2 and 22 bottles. Skills make no difference. |

Guess this is the previous research:
Sweat stats Sweating: yet another experiment Sweat science Experiment Thanks for the heads up on this Oleg, I'll see if I can verify it as still true. Last edited by Squiglet; 03-28-2008 at 15:18. |

What do you mean by success rate of 20%?
I'm guessing you mean that on average 1 attempt of 5 succeeds in getting sweat. My observation is that it is closer to one in 7. The interesting number would be the average amount of sweat per (say) 1000 attempts. I'd rather succeed one time of 7 and get 20 sweat than succeed one time of 5 and only get 4 sweat. |

The average number of sweat in 1000 attempts would be 2400. 20% of 1000 = 200 Average sweat per pull = 12 200 x 12 = 2400 Last edited by Oleg; 03-28-2008 at 15:38. |
