It looks Mindark changed their plans about the mindforce update a _while_ ago. Of course, for the moment they are busy converting Entropia Universe into the crytec engine. But what will be next ? I dont know but i suspect a mindforce update will come along with other economy changes that eleminating imbalances and make it a more fair and fun profession to use.


I think just for example about participant made ammunition for Handguns and Rifles. Marco once talked about such plans in the Entropian. Most likely, at some point, participant made ammo will drive TT Ammo in the off like (L) Weapons did with some non (L) weapons. When the markup for participant made ammo is nearly equal to mind essence a problem is solved and the acceptance of mindforce will raise. Bevore you cry out think about how auction fees made our entropia life more expensive. Some prophets prayed the end of days for EU, but over a year later its still here and people got used with it. Same adaption will happen to any other drastic change made in the future. Its not the end and it will even out in some way.


Mindforce will most likely not become the Future of Entropia Universe (in the meaning of become the sucessor for all weapons), some old statements have to dig in the dust, but im sure the next big update will add more unique functions, only available for mindforce. As example maybe a bio damper chip that reduce your radar signature to half and more stuff like this. The only way not punish the current highlevel mindforce users is that mindforce will stay an profession thats not easy to master. But on the flipside of coin, more unique functionality will encourage others to skill up mindforce. I think it will goes the same way as the (L) Faps and Weapons. We will see crafted Mindforce chips limited and unlimited with Sib and without. The mindforce revamp will probably part of a bigger crafting update.


Some old highlevel chips will raise in price but the most will drop in value. I like the idea of crafted MF chips but player crafted ammo is silly and if MA implement this I WILL chip out and quit!

Loook at ME its about 200-220% I'd never pay 200% for ammo this is the reason I dont use my Nerve Blast chip too often.

Ammunition has been used as an example for something the always-just-over-the-horizon factories would be used for producing, and i don't think there's any doubt it will happen, but i don't think you should be so worried about it. Manufactured ammunition will probably be used for weapon types not currently in the game and for special purposes (think armor piercing metal jacketed BLP rounds or high capacity energy cells) like enhancing damage or modifying damage type for more varied and effective PVP. I had surmised that explosives would be (L) and launched from a generic weapon, but MA made the explosives a type of ammo and the weapon varied, so there's still room for custom ammo for all weapons in game. Also, think about missiles for space ships...

John Doe manufactured an item (Omegaton Ship-to-Ship Nuclear Missile Mk. 5 (L)) worth 1000000 PEDs and has been recorded in the Hall of Fame.

There are soo many possibilities with mindforce and i think a lot of them will be easier to implement with CE2, so hopefully we'll see MF radar jammers and enhancers, cloaks, shields, and area-affect attacks and heals soon thereafter. Hopefully it won't all be manufactured chips, too, but i'm afraid that's where things are going.

Invisibility Shield Chip, cloaking u from appearing on radar
would be very nice, but I also have other ideas in mind..
(on 1st one, I was thinking ~ mining in PvP zones )

Let's remember NWN absorption shield type spells.. in EU,
we have avatar focus bubbles already, so, it could be
quite easy thingie to implement.. the only question ~ it:

would it hold some hits, and then dissipate, or such shield
can have a certain "HP points amount", and will fade away
after all these points used..? - will there more Chip levels
announced after Cry Engine 2 update..? any roadmap..?

Yes MA has to do something about mind force as it is to day its only usefull for TP-chips and focus chip when you sweating rest off them is no use.

I disagree - I've been saved by my NB Chip more than once. I wouldn't phase out weapons in favor of it, it's just too expensive a way to go. I'd certainly use it more if I had any sort of luck finding nexus - but I've only found it once. As it stands, it's a great contingency plan, but that's about it.

But I do agree that Mindforce does need a massive overhaul.

I can think of dozens of potential MF Chip powers, Slow (reduce target's speed), Stun (Stun target), Confuse (Decoy for Mindforce), Blind (reduce target's hit %), Levitate (swimming and mountain climbing suck), Shield (armor bonus), Illusion (duplicates of user's avatar - confuse the hell of PK's), and with a day/night cycle coming in CE2 - Illuminate (Light from your avatar - good to see at night), Regenerate (A short-term continual heal - boost avatar's natural regeneration rate), Terror (make mobs flee), LifeLeech (Steal HP from target to heal user), Identify (MF version of Scan)... I could fill pages, but that should be enough for now.

After the engine switch we'll not see anything new (in game mechanics) for a very long time - first they'll need to iron out the inevitable bugs in the new engine's implementation, then they'll concentrate to fulfill the China/ CK/ Brazil/ Thai contracts, then they'll need to iron out the inevitable bugs for these.

So don't hope for much - CE2 means more eye candy, but, together with the new contracts, inevitably a complete halt in "game development" for quite long time.
