Skilling pyrotropy is good for the soul, in the same way spending a few hours in the potting shed or sorting the stamp collection is. If (like myself) you have a background in Long Blade skills worked up to 3k ish with a 1x0 and 2x0 axes, then u prob. have the mental glue to skill MF.
I wouldn't suggest using pyrotropy 'out of the box', instead invest effort in skilling up related skills. As already mentioned, get the implant sorted (Bd is the nuts if ur not using lvl 1 chips, but check first!) Look at the info on the chip, it will show what level you need to reach and how close you are, as for all weapons. In the nature of giving a guy a fishing rod instead of fish - head on over to www.Entropedia.info The MF chips aside from the higher level ones are typically tt food, so check before placing the bid/buying. Get a focus, nerve blast, tp and healing chip. Get a nice pile of ME, if you can afford to bulk buy savings of 5-10% are often possible. This step is very important - don't over look it! Place all your guns and fap in storage, wear only the most economical armor you have (without plates, preff. pixie/goblin). You don't want to be using faps or getting bored and using faster guns. TP out to ur nooby hunting ground (preff. desolate of green dots), use the TP when u get killed to get back quick and gain concentration! Use the nerve blast chip to reasonably quickly attack mobs - this is important, as you the more charge time u have, the more times u get hit by the mob loosing focus. Try to time the start of charging to immediately after a mob hits, the chances are maximised of charging without being hit, as the next hit might be missed by the mob, but a third is less likely to miss etc. As with all use of armor and associated medical skill - unless ur in a competion rampage, there is no excuse for being lazy! The armor should only protect you enuf to allow the kill to be completed. Then heal using the MF chip. Continue with this method, and within a fairly short time you'll see the %'s increasing on ability to use and recharge times being reduced. Pyrotropy looks cool, but becoming poor due to inefficient use looks very silly. |

I get the feeling you don't have the capital to enjoy the benefits of bulk buy - upwards of 10k ME. The amount of ME you should buy is a personal choice, governed only by how much MF skilling you want to do! It's like asking how much ammo you need, as much as will kill the last mob you want to hunt today. But simple maths will help a bit - the chips are using typically between 1 and 15 ME, typically 5. So you really should get 1k at least.
Armor is not required - in fact if you can survive without, you'll do alot better in the long run. |

you said you have a focus chip already? great. start sweating!
it'll build concentraation, intelligence, agility, evade ...and it'll cut down your expenses for ME in the long run. after you get a comfortable pile of 'ammo' stockpiled, you will *still* need to find a firestorm chip. my first (and so far only) firestorm chip is 4th lvl/Moderate. it works for skilling, and you can get some really fun one-shot kills on smaller mobs with it. when i bought it, we didn't have the enat little display that was mentioned here that tells you if you can use an item, or how far you have to go til you can; so i started quite blind with mine. found out upon trying to equip that i didn't have the basic skills up high enough to use it yet. psychotropy was the answer! focus, nerve blast, and teleport ALL pump psychotropy, and psychotropy drags the related skills up right along with it. eventually, after a considerable skilling period (about 4-5 mos of pretty steady skilling) on psychotropy, the pyro chip became useable! ![]() of course, the first thing i did was take my freshly repaired firestorm out and blow it up, but it was good fun. ![]() |
